wedding party dances down aisle

wedding party dances down aisle

Jill and Kevin Heinz made a surprise entrance dancing down the aisle at their wedding. In fact, the entire bridal party danced to Chris Brown's "Forever" instead of the usual boring processional. They recorded the whole event, and Heinz posted it YouTube where it currently has nearly 5,000,000 views.
Peterson later said,
"I danced growing up and was a dancer through college, and loved dance as a way to express yourself and share joy. So it was something I always thought about doing."
The couple said that they were surprised at the video's popularity.
It you haven't seen the video, it's worth watching. I only hope that these young people will be as happy with each other in ten or twenty years as they were on that day. The odds are not in their favor as lifelong marriage is a thing of the past.
Nowhere else in our lives do we make "till death do us part" commitments at such a young age . It made sense a century ago when people lived to an average ago of 46, but not today when everything is changing at breakneck speed and we're living into our seventies and beyond.
May we all dance with joy, passion and love today and every day

border patrol agent shot

border patrol agent shot

It is reported that the U.S. Border Patrol says one of its agents has been killed in Southern California while tracking suspected illegal immigrants or drug smugglers.

He was identified by Homeland Security Friday as Robert Rosas.

Agency spokesman Daryl Reed says Rosas spotted a suspicious group in the remote Campo area near the Mexican border Thursday night and called for backup.

When the suspicious group split up, Rosas went after some suspects by himself. Other agents lost radio contact with him.

Around 9 p.m., they heard gunshots and found the agent, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department says he was shot in the head.

A search on both sides of the border failed to find anyone.

erin andrews peephole tape video

erin andrews peephole tape video

The search trend that will not die, "Erin Andrews peephole tape" just drew in its latest mainstream media victim of the drug of titillation, Bill O'Reilly, then for good measure, Jason Witlock of the Kansas City Star unwittingly throws Michelle Beisner into the mix.

Now, Michelle Beisner's the top search on Google Trends because of the Erin Andrews peep show video scandal, Witlock digging up that story, and the male desire to see her, too, (90 percent of my 34,000 video viewers - as of this writing - on this matter are men) and Bill O'Reilly has the nerve to bring two more blondes on his show to talk about a blonde, Erin Andrews, who's privacy was violated, and show the offending video mainly because CBS decided to do it first within the mainstream media camp! Oh brother.

Plus, what we have is a great case of racial profiling.

My video on this matter (which has one very cool photo of Erin Andrews just being the normal person she is and using an Apple MacBook) of the CBS action stands:

And regarding, Bill O'Reilly, I will add more. First, I did not embed the video of Bill's show for obvious reasons, but for those who feel I should at least reference it, here it is - LINK - within a great blog post by Will Brinson at FanHouse, who takes the popular conservative hothead to task for his segment. Second, I'll go a few steps beyond where he went.

What Bill O'Reilly does is add sauce to the "Erin goose" by inviting Fox News.com correspondent Courtney Friel and Fox News assignment editor and blogger Jane Skinner on, both blonde and famous for errors of a titillating nature. In Skinner's case, she's known for mistakenly saying "top cock" rather than "top cop" twice in a Fox News broadcast, leading to a yet another viral video on YouTube. Friel's claim to fame is posing in a bikini for the soft-porn magazine Maxim. Gawker discovered the photos after Friel removed them from her website. Then, Gawker's Ryan Tate (who's now the editor of Valleywag) wrote a new post about her pictures, calling her a "bonehead" in the process.

Bonehead? Bonehead!? That is racial profiling, folks, piling on the classic "dumb blonde" image, but more on that later; O'Reilly uses titillation to talk about, well, titillation. What was done shows the primal genius of Fox News and explains why their ratings are so high. Bill's 100 percent correct that what was done to Erin - and I stand corrected that it was in a hotel room and not an athletic club as I reported - is cyberstalking.

But given that the audience for this news is male, Bill should have had Fox News male anchors on his show talking about the matter, and not Jane Skinner and Courtney Friel. Why? Because first, it would send a message that men in media have a level of respect for their female collegues, second, the obvious question given the backgrounds of Frier and Skinner is "Have you been cyberstalked?" but Bill didn't even go in that direction and thus had the wrong guests on. He focused squarely on the view that a crime was committed - and he's right - and that's it. But in fashioning the segment O'Reilly caused a "snails tail" relationship: we talk about the blonde with blondes who have the same level of Internet popularity as the blonde, just like Michelle Beisner.

Who?

Michelle Beisner's described by Witlock as "former Denver Broncos cheerleader and aspiring D-list Hollywood actress-type. Blonde. White Woman" (but forgot to note, or perhaps didn't care to discover, or didn't see it as important that Beisner's an NFL Network correspondent) who's innocent reply to a text sent by ESPN's star anchor Stuart Scott (who's black) was picked up by an over-the-shoulder peering Al Daulerio - a sports blogger and editor with Gawker media product Deadspin - at a Super Bowl party, then was repeated by Daulerio in Deadspin.

The result was to imply that Scott and Beisner were having an affair as opposed to what commonly happens in the days leading up to a Super Bowl (I've been to seven of 'em): the late night search for a way to get into the next party and go all night long. I'd bet even money that's what the text was about; Beisner may have contacted her friend, the well-connected Scott, who's married, regarding help getting into another party.

Deadspin has never appologized for the blog post.

While Witlock is correct in bring up how Deadspin poorly handled that story as well as how Deadspin started reporting on the Andrews video, Witlock's depiction of Andrews and Beisner (Andrews as "Barbie" and Beisner as "D-list...Blonde. White Woman" rather than NFL Network correspondent) is tasteless and smacks of the same racial profiling we complain about as African Americans. (And I will follow up later, on regarding what happened to Professor Henry Louis "Skip" Gates at the hands of the Cambridge Police.)

No one wants to be placed in a box where they're expected to be a certain way because of their race and sex. Just because someone's white and blonde doesn't mean they don't know anything; in my experience, perhaps as a reaction to society, it's the reverse. I had a long tearful talk a while back with a friend of mine who's in San Francisco real estate (and blonde, and tall, and attractive, and smart) about this because she'd had it with people at the time and went on a drinking binge. (She's fine now.)

It doens't matter if the person's white and blonde, or black and male, we as a World industrial society must stop placing them in a box assuming that they're dumb or dangerous. Bill O'Reilly did this, Jason Witlock really did it, the Cambridge police "acted stupidly" (to quote President Obama), and Erin Andrews and Professor Gates have been the victims of it.

shoe in italian

shoe in italian

Janice Rosenhaus has about 90 pairs of shoes -- beautiful pumps and wedges by designers including Jill Sander, Prada and Lanvin, plus stilettoed Manolo Blahniks she no longer wears but can't bear to part with because they are so pretty.

She admits she doesn't need another pair and that -- like lots of shoppers in this economy -- she has cut back on spending.

And yet, she's in the market for more.

"I buy shoes because I love them. I think you build a relationship with them because you're looking at them all the time," says Rosenhaus, 56, of Bloomfield Hills. "You love your clothes, but you have to look in the mirror to see them."

That makes me -- someone who always comes up with ways to buy shoes -- wonder: If wine and condoms, as surveys have suggested, are recession-proof, is it possible that women's shoes, a relatively easy and satisfying thing to buy, are, too?

While men may collect tools and sporting equipment and enormous televisions because such acquisitions make them feel virile, women buy shoes because they make us feel pretty or sexy.

The right high-heeled shoe can elongate our legs, turning them from stumpy limbs into something to behold, something seductive. The right high-heeled shoe can give us height, which in many cases, makes us feel powerful.

And a quirky pair of skimmers or maybe some strappy flats? They have the power to kick-start some fun with their flirtiness.

While we may yo-yo between dress sizes or cringe at the thought of seeing our dimpled thighs in the mirror of a fitting room, most of us can find a pair of shoes that fit, even on our fattest of fat days. And we don't have to go through the trauma of taking off our clothes to try them on.

Earlier this year, a survey by Global Strategy Group, a New York-based polling organization, showed that there's something to all of this. While we're spending less overall, 28% of women -- 8% more than in 2007 -- ranked shoes as the thing on which they are most likely to splurge.

"While other businesses are maybe contracting ... we have not experienced any drop in our sales," says Tawny Thieu, who is expanding her shoe store, Pink Pump, from one location to three.

(2 of 2)

A new Pink Pump (www.shoppinkpump.com) opened on Maple in Birmingham last month. A Royal Oak store, which will be her chain's flagship, is expected to open in August. They join an existing Pink Pump in Bloomfield Hills.

"When I was younger, we didn't have money and I always got the second hand-me-downs from my two older sisters," says Thieu, who is 29 and lives in Royal Oak.

"Kids can be cruel if you don't have the right shoes, if you don't have the right clothes."

At Via Bella, which opened in May at 141 W. Maple across the street from Pink Pump in Birmingham, store manager Elisa Gatliff says that in addition to offering European styles, "We want our clients ... to come in, hear the Italian music playing, have an espresso, have a pastry. We want people to have an experience so they remember Via Bella."

And so it seems that women's shoes are fairing so well during this recession because buying shoes isn't really about buying shoes.

It's about righting childhood inadequacies and having an experience. It's about an easy way for a woman to feel pretty and powerful and fun.

And sexy, too, which makes sense that shoes join wine and condoms on the list of recession-proof products.

running of the bulls

running of the bulls

PAMPLONA, Spain (AP) — Thrill-seekers sprinted through Pamplona in a swift and relatively clean start to the running of the bulls.

No one was gored on Tuesday, but four people were hospitalized with bumps, bruises or scrapes, Spanish Red Cross spokesman Jose Aldaba said.

"I feared for my life. It was pretty intense," said 23-year-old runner Mark Kowalski of Edmonton, Alberta.

The six fighting bulls and six bell-tinkling steers — meant to keep them in a tight pack — charged down the 930-yard (850-meter) course from a holding pen to the northern town's bull ring.

Runners, wearing traditional white clothing and red kerchiefs around their necks, tripped over each other or fell after getting bumped by bulls or steers, but apparently no one was seriously trampled. One man went down about midcourse and half a dozen animals raced over him, but he was able later to get up and walk away.

At another point, a bull slipped and fell on the cobblestone street and landed atop a runner. Some of the daredevils rested their hands on the bulls, a gesture considered disrespectful to the animals.

People came from all over the world to test their bravery and enjoy nonstop street parties. Spanish Television said about 2,000 people took part in the first of eight runs at the famed San Fermin festival, made famous by Ernest Hemingway's novel "The Sun Also Rises."

Tuesday's run lasted about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, which is quick for San Fermin runs.

"It was incredible," said Victor Gaona, a 26-year-old from Mexico. "I saw a bull fall in front of me, and it is an unforgettable experience."

Fourteen people have died at San Fermin since record-keeping began in 1924. The last fatal goring was in 1995. The victim was Matthew Tassio, a 22-year-old American.

In 2003, Pamplona native Fermin Etxeberri, 63, was trampled in the head by a bull and died after spending months in a coma.

lunar eclipse july 2009

lunar eclipse july 2009

For those who follow Astronomy and Astrology, the Total Solar Eclipse of July 22, 2009 is of extreme importance as it is the longest one the Earth will experience in the 21st century until June 13, 2132. NASA published the eclipse's path as projected by Fred Espenak and Jay Anderson. These spots are the best places on Earth to view this most anticipated eclipse.

Explorers who wish to experience this event first hand would need to travel to parts of Asia to see the total solar eclipse. A few of these places are still under alert for travelers. Check out the article on legal and political matters related to holistic travel abroad for information on travel alerts and warnings.

On Wednesday, 2009 July 22, an exceptionally long total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses the Eastern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, and China. After leaving mainland Asia, the path crosses Japan’s Ryukyu Islands and curves southeast through the Pacific Ocean where the maximum duration of totality reaches 6 min 39 s (Espenak and Anderson 2006). A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes most of eastern Asia, Indonesia, and the Pacific Ocean.

Umbral Path and Visibility

The central line of the Moon’s shadow begins at 00:53 UT (Universal Time) in India’s Gulf of Khambhat (Bay of Cambay). Because the Moon passes through perigee just 4 ½ hours earlier (July 21 at 20:16 UT), its close proximity to Earth produces an unusually wide path of totality.

The eclipse track is 205 km wide at its start as the umbra quickly travels east-northeast. The Sun is only 3° above the northeastern horizon when the coastal city of Surat, India (pop. ~4 million) experiences a 3 min 14 s total eclipse. Racing inland, the shadow reaches Indore where its 1.8 million inhabitants are plunged into totality for 3 min 5 s.

At mid-eclipse (00:53:30 UT), the Sun hangs a mere 6° above the horizon. After covering 700 km along the central line in the first 39 seconds of its 3+ hour-long trajectory across our planet, the umbra’s ground speed is rapidly decelerating. Nevertheless, with a velocity of 8.9 km/s, it still exceeds the speed of sound (1230 km/h) by a factor of 26 times. Bhopal (pop. 1.5 million) lies 40 km north of the central line. Even at this distance, it succumbs to 3 min 9 s of the total phase, just 19 s less than the maximum duration at the path’s center. By 00:55 UT, the umbra is in central India where it stretches diagonally across 2/3 of the country.

Due to the Sun’s low altitude, the shadow is a highly elongated ellipse with a major axis of ~1000 km, nearly 5 times its minor axis. Approximately 400 km north of the path, the Taj Mahal in Agra experiences a deep partial eclipse of magnitude 0.906 at 00:56 UT. Just three minutes into its course, the path width is 218 km while the shadow’s velocity drops to 3.8 km/s. On the central line, the Sun stands 14° above the horizon during the 3 min 45 s total phase. Varanasi and Pata both lie within the shadow’s path as the central line crosses the sacred Ganges River.

About 500 km to the southeast, the populace of Kolkata (Calcutta, pop. ~4.5 million) can view a partial eclipse of magnitude 0.911. Eastern India narrows to a 25-km-wide corridor as it squeezes between Nepal and Bangladesh. The shadow reaches this region at 00:58 UT. Outside the path, Kathmandu experiences a partial eclipse of magnitude 0.962, while Dacca witnesses a 0.930 magnitude event. The eclipse’s central line reaches Bhutan, at 00:59 UT. Now six minutes and 2000+ km into its trek, the path width has grown to 224 km, the ground velocity is 2.6 km/s and the central duration exceeds 4 min.

After leaving Bhutan, the track continues through India in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The center of the umbra reaches the India-China border at 01:05 UT. The Sun is now 28° high, the shadow’s ground velocity is 1.8 km/s and the duration of totality is 4 min 26 s. The southern half of the umbra briefly sweeps across northern Burma (Myanmar) before the entire shadow enters China’s Yunnan province and the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The lunar shadow runs through the middle of Sichuan province where the capital city of Chengdu (pop. ~2.3 million) is totally eclipsed for 3 min 16 s at 01:13 UT. On the central line 88 km to the south, the duration is 4 min 52 s. The urban center of the Chongqing municipality is 69 km south of the central line (Figure 12), but its ~4.1 million inhabitants still share a totality lasting 4 min 06 s (01:15 UT). Because all of China is in one time zone (UT + 8 h), UT times and can be converted to local Chinese time by adding 8 hours. Hubei province’s capital Wuhan (pop. ~ 9.7 million) is the fourth largest city in China. It lies just 20 km south of the central line and enjoys a duration of 5 min 25 s at 01:27 UT.

The Sun’s altitude is 48°, the path width is 244 km and the umbra’s velocity is 1.0 km/s. The Yangtze River meanders through the eclipse track as the shadow proceeds east. Hangzhou (pop. ~3.9 million), the capital of Zhejiang province, is 52 km south of the central line and witnesses a total eclipse of 5 min 19 s (01:37 UT). In spite of Hangzhou’s location, only 32 s are to be gained by traveling north to the central line where the duration is 5 min 51 s. Shanghai is China’s largest city (pop. ~18.7 million). Located 66 km north of the central line, Shanghai still manages to receive 5 min of totality (01:39 UT). While the central line offers a total phase lasting 5 min 55 s, it is already over Hangzhou Bay and heading out to sea. The 128 islands of the Dinghai district southeast of Shanghai, make up the last Chinese land within the eclipse track (01:41 UT).

After crossing the East China Sea, the umbra encounters Japan’s Ryukyu Islands (a.k.a. Nansei Islands) at 01:57 UT. The chain contains dozens of islands stretching across the entire eclipse path. Yakushima, the largest island in the path is near the northern limit and experiences 3 min 57 s of totality. Akuseki-shima is closest to the central line; it gets a 6 min 20 s total eclipse. To the north, Tokyo, Japan’s capital city witnesses a partial eclipse of magnitude 0.747 (02:13 UT).

The shadow encounters the remote Japanese islands of Iwo Jima and Kitaio Jima at approximately 02:27 UT. The durations of totality from the two islands are 5 min 13 s and 6 min 34 s, respectively. The instant of greatest eclipse occurs at 02:35:19 UT (latitude 24° 13?N, longitude 144° 07?E) when the axis of the Moon’s shadow passes closest to the center of Earth (gamma1 = +0.06977). The maximum duration of totality here is 6 min 39 s, the Sun’s altitude is 86°, the path width is 258 km, and the umbra’s velocity is 0.65 km/s.

Having already traversed 7550 km, the central line has an additional 7600 km to go until its terminus. Unfortunately, the remainder of the path makes no major landfall; it arcs southeast through the Pacific Ocean hitting only a handful of small atolls. Nearly an hour passes before the Moon’s shadow reaches Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Infamous for its use as a nuclear test site in the 1950s, Enewetak experiences a total eclipse with a duration of 5 min 38 s at 03:31 UT. The Sun’s altitude is 57°, the path width is 254 km, and the umbra’s velocity is 0.85 km/s. Several other Marshall Islands atolls are in the eclipse track including Namorik, Kili, and Jaluit.

Continuing through Kiribati (Gilbert Islands), Butaritari atoll lies near the central line (Figure 18) where the maximum duration of 4 min 48 s occurs at 03:56 UT. The eclipse track’s final landfall takes place on Nikumaroro Island (Gardner Island) in Kiribati’s Phoenix Island group.

From Nikumaroro, the total phase lasts 3 min 39 s, while the central line 40 km to the south offers a duration of 3 min 58 s (04:11 UT). The Sun’s altitude is 20°, the path width is 228 km and the ground speed is 2.6 km/s. The lunar shadow once again becomes a long, drawn-out ellipse. In its final few minutes, the umbra’s velocity accelerates while the Sun’s altitude and the central duration decrease. As the Moon’s shadow lifts off Earth and returns to space, the central line ends at 04:18 UT.

Over the course of 3 h 25 min, the umbra travels along a track approximately 15,150 km long that covers 0.71% of Earth’s surface area.

The late Steve McNair (picture above), 36, was shot multiple times and killed in Nashville, Tennessee, along with a woman who has now been identified as Sahel Kazemi, 20, shot once in the head and killed. The deaths occurred at a rented condominium residence at 2nd Avenue South & Lea Avenue.

Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department did not classify the incident which is under investigation. A law enforcement source told CNN that that it is believed that Sahel Kazemi was the girlfriend of late quarterback also known as Steve Air McNair.

Investigators don’t think McNair’s wife, Mechelle [McNair], who is “very distraught,” was involved, Aaron said.

More details on what is known about the tragic shooting here.

Michelle McNair photo can be seen along with the Sahel Kazemi MySpace photo here. Mechelle McNair was not killed or injured in the tragedy.

As a biography, Mechelle McNair (often misspelled as Michelle McNair) was originally Mechelle Cartwright (misspelled Michelle Cartwright). The couple married in 1997, and had four sons together: Steve Junior, Steven, Tyler, and Trenton. Another Mechelle McNair photo can be seen here. See video below.

disney monorail crash

disney monorail crash

A Disney World monorail driver was killed after colliding with another train at the Orlando, Fla., park, according to officials.

The driver died early Sunday when he rear-ended another train at about 2 a.m. EDT.

The operator of the other monorail train was taken to the hospital, but was uninjured, according to a statement from the Reedy Creek Fire Department.

The first driver, who was not identified, had to be cut out of his cab and was pronounced dead at the scene, CFNews13.com reported.

Two employees and five guests on both trains were not injured.

Witnesses said the crash took place on the EPCOT track near the Disney World parking lot as people were leaving the park following a Fourth of July fireworks show.

"Today, we mourn the loss of our fellow cast member. Our hearts go out to his family and to those who have lost a friend and co-worker," Mike Griffin, Disney World's vice president of public affairs, said in a statement.

"The safety of our guests and cast members is always our top priority. The monorail is out of service as we continue to work closely with law enforcement to determine what happened and the appropriate next steps," Griffin said.

It was the first fatal accident in the Disney World monorail's 38-year history, according to CFNews13.com,.
