katherine heigl wardrobe mishap video

katherine heigl wardrobe mishap video

Katherine Heigl had her very first wardrobe malfunction at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas on Thursday where she was receiving the Female Star of the Year Award. A dark, brunette version of Heigl was wearing a gorgeous red dress when the shoulder strap suddenly popped over her left-shoulder. Luckily she was able to catch it and hold on as she gave her acceptance speech.
In an interview in the video below, Heigl explain how having recently had a baby, it seems like everything is more work now. She says that she was just happy she made it to the award ceremony fully dressed to begin with!
I have to say she definitely handled the little mishap in the best way possible. She's been classy talking about it since and will definitely know enough to make sure her straps are secure for the next event she goes to!

Who says you can't shoot a gun and wear heels? just let us know.....

Here is Miss England, Katrina Hodge, who is also a British soldier, may not be doing both simultaneously, but she sure knows how to conquer the battlefield and rock a pageant runway.

Also known as "Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge," she has represented England at the 2009 Miss World championship in South Africa and is face of the lingerie company La Senza as the Face of our Armed Forces campaign.

Hodge, 22, is redefining beauty and helping to change Miss England's platform for judging its contestants. For the first time in many years, Miss England won't have a swimwear round this year.

Although she looks great in a swimsuit, she tells Britain's Telegraph that the swimsuit portion of the competition is not always fair.

"I think it's nerve-racking enough for girls to get up on a stage and speak, let alone appear in a swimsuit," Hodge told Britain's Telegraph.

Given the moniker, "Combat Barbie" by her fellow Army comrades," Hodge is thrilled that the contestants will be given the chance to show off their athletic abilities in this year's competition.

"It's good the girls are being given a sports challenge in this year's competition," she added.

Miss England pageant officials are on board with the change.

"We have found that our yearly winner of Miss England hardly ever has to appear in swimwear for public events and its an unessary section of the competition," Angie Beasley, director of Miss England Limited told CBS News. "We also feel its a good way of bringing the pageant up to date, as the swimwear round often put contestants off from entering."

The British beauty was drawn to serving her country at a young age. She left school at 16 and joined the Army. She went on to be one of only ten women in the Royal Anglians to be posted to Iraq for seven months at the age of 18.

Hodge doesn't play around when she's defending her her country and her Army buddies. While in Iraq, she won a commendation for disarming and detaining a suspected rebel fighter with her bare hands.

"Katrina is a realistic role model and wanted to show she can break the mold by being a soldier and a beauty queen," Beasley said.

Many Days after TMZ obtained photos of James' alleged mistress Michelle "Bombshell" McGee decked out in Nazi armband, hat and little else, the site now claims that they have seen an image of James doing his own horrifying tribute to Hitler chic. In the image, which TMZ says was shot two years ago, James is wearing a Nazi hat, has his right hand held high in the "Heil Hitler pose" and put his left hand under his nose mimicking a Hitler mustache.

It's more classy news coming from the Monster Garage star a week after McGee, a tattoo fetish model and stripper, claimed to have had an 11-month affair with James while his wife, Sandra Bullock, was busy filming an Oscar-winning role in "The Blind Side."

James is also reportedly facing a new battle with his ex-wife, former porn-star Janine Lindemulder, over custody of their daughter. James and Bullock have had custody over the child since Lindemulder was sent to jail for cheating the IRS.

Lindemulder, like the "Bombshell," is tattooed from head to toe, a stark contrast to Bullock.

According to People, Bullock moved out of the California house she shares with James shortly after taking home her Oscar for Best Actress and sometime before McGee went public with her affair story to In Touch Weekly.

laura hall

laura hall
Laura Hall was like any other college student. She was living in Austin, Texas, whre she attended the University of Texas, dating the guy of her dreams, business student Colton Pitonyak, and planning to go to law school.
But on the morning of Aug. 17, 2005, Hall entered into a nightmare when she found a young woman’s dead body in the bathtub in Pitonyak's apartment. It was 21-year-old Jennifer Cave, a friend of Pitonyak's.

Within days of the murder, authorities nabbed Pitonyak and Hall in Mexico. But while Hall claimed that she went to Mexico against her will, police believed she was helping Pitonyak escape and charged her with hindering apprehension. Even worse, Cave's body had been severely mutilated, stabbed dozens of times and dismembered. At his trial, Pitonyak stunned everyone when he testified that it was, in fact, Hall who dismembered her.

Hall's counsel denied her involvement, claiming any of her questionable behavior stemmed from her love and fear of Pitonyak, but the prosecution painted a picture of a jealous girlfriend who ruthlessly took control of a situation to protect her boyfriend.

The jury found her guilty of tampering with the body and hindering Colton'ss apprehension. She was sentenced to five years in prison.

But in February 2009, the unexpected happened.

Laura Hall was released from prison when a court ruled that her sentencing hearing was unfair. After serving just 17 months, Hall went home while prosecutors fought to put her back in prison. Her conviction still stands, but how much time she will serve has yet to be determined.

predators

predators

The South by Southwest Film Festival officially launched on Friday night with the premiere of “Kick Ass,” a vibrant take on the superhero movie genre, but ultimately a local hero stole the show: Famous Austin-based filmmaker Robert Rodriguez showed up at the Alamo Drafthouse to reveal scenes from Fox’s upcoming “Predator” remake — aptly titled “Predators” — for which he served as a producer.
While director Nimrod Antal (”Vacancy”) also showed up to field audience questions about the production, Rodriguez made it clear that he had a lengthy history with it. Speaking to a crowded room that included die-hard “Predator” fans who had waited in line for hours to attend the sneak peek, he laid out the details: The “Desperado” director initially wrote a draft for a third entry in the “Predator” franchise in the mid-1990s, with the intention of including Arnold Schwarzenegger in a story set on another planet. When Schwarzenegger dropped out, the project went into limbo — until last year, when Fox contacted Rodriguez about resurrecting the project. While he passed on directorial responsibilities due to other obligations, Rodriguez suggested that his Austin-based Troublemaker Studios produce it. With Antal onboard, the new “Predators” finally came together hundreds of miles from Hollywood. “The coolest thing was to walk out of my office and see ‘Predators’ in Austin,” Rodriguez said.
In addition to discussing the project, which Fox plans to release on July 9, Rodriguez and Antal revealed a trailer, one fleeting scene and varied concept art used to flesh out the Predator’s home planet. While the sci-fi details looked extensive, the trailer — which Rodriguez expected to go public in a few weeks to accompany the release of “Repo Men” –  basically showcased the non-stop action.  As a series of humans evade the unstoppable Predators on their own turf, a series of title cards underscore the drama: “They’re the most dangerous killers on the planet. But this isn’t their planet,” we’re told. The leader of the bunch, played by a grave-looking Adrien Brody, concludes, “This planet is a game preserve. We’re the game.” And…scene! (The teaser is available for viewing on the official “Predators” Web site.)
The duo also screened a sequence allegedly taken straight from the edit room in which Lawrence Fishburne confronts Brody and his fellow soldiers in the jungle and reveals himself as “the one that got away” — meaning the only human survivor on the planet. But enough about humans; special effects wizard Greg Nicotero, a veteran of the 1987 “Predator,” was also on hand to discuss the handcrafted effects in the film (none of the Predators appear as CGI). Rodriguez lifted a veil on the stage, revealing the original Predator head, a mechanical construction that could be animated by remote control. Crowds flocked to the front of the room for an up-close glimpse of the creature’s multilayered jaws, while concept art for the new Predators played on a loop on the big screen. The artwork revealed a sleeker take on the Predator design, reflecting Antal’s decision to move from the “eight track Predator to the iPod predator,” as Nicotero described it.
But while the Predators have evolved, the violence remains intact. Antal and Rodriguez said they always intended for “Predators” to have an “R” rating, acknowledging that hardcore fans disapproved of “Alien Vs. Predator” and its sequel for softening the battles for PG-13 standards. Mainly, Antal said, they wanted to return the vibe of the first movie. “We both realized that sticking to the original and building off that was the best approach,” he said.

acc tournament 2010

acc tournament 2010

Landon Milbourne often wildly waves his arms and screams while defending an inbounds pass, instilling fear and urgency into the inbounder.
The role is paramount in Maryland's full-court pressure defense, and Milbourne effectively filled his duties during the second half of the Terrapins' 69-64 loss to the Yellow Jackets in the ACC quarterfinals on Friday night.
Maryland cut a 16-point halftime deficit to two points, and did so with a press that helped force 16 of Georgia Tech's 25 turnovers in the second half. The Yellow Jackets entered the game averaging 16.1 turnovers per game.
"That's probably the best it's worked all year," Milbourne said. "Especially in a critical time like tonight. We needed it. It really helped us get back into the game."
Georgia Tech forward Zachery Peacock said the Yellow Jackets were rushing and that they felt pressure because their "season was on the line." When the big halftime lead started to dissipate, their players became nervous before starting to figure out how to take the ball past half court. Georgia Tech guard Iman Shumpert called Maryland's defense "nothing special," labeling it little more than an aggressive trap. However, it clearly affected the Yellow Jackets' decision-making and ability to enter into a set offense.
"They got us sped up, making rush decisions," Georgia Tech forward Gani Lawal said. "We didn't take the time pass faking, really attacking, dribble through it."
Five of the Yellow Jackets' turnovers came in the first three minutes in the second half, when Maryland first introduced the press. Both Milbourne and guard Greivis Vasquez had five steals, and Sean Mosley accounted for four. Four of Milbourne's steals and all of Mosley's steals came in the second half, when Maryland entered the press. Mosley observed Georgia Tech appearing tentative with their decision-making and struggling to make the correct pass.
Milbourne is the one designated with the most responsibility in the defense. He's relied upon to defend the inbounder and trap whoever receives the ball.
It is a position well suited for Milbourne, according to Terrapins forward Jordan Williams, because "he's very athletic, jumps high, gets in the way, and is always yelling." He added that Milbourne becomes "intimidating" when he assumes the role.
"Try to distract him, try to move my hands as fast as I could, and when he passes the ball inbound, try to get a good trap and make him turn the ball over," Milbourne said of his role. "Our press worked pretty well. We got a lot of turnovers out of it. It definitely helped us get back in the game."
Maryland Coach Gary Williams said the difference in the second half was the team's effort more than any buttons he pressed. Mosley said that the press only works if the team is "flying around," and that was the byproduct of starting the second half with intensity that was lacking in the first half.
"We are down 16; what are you guys going to do?" Mosley said Williams told the team at halftime. The defense worked enough to induce a dramatic final minute, which was its purpose after halftime.
"We knew we had to cut the lead down," Mosley said, "but we just couldn't get over the hump."

"Dreamgirls" the music is getting a humorous send-up by "Dreamboy" the fan.
Aspiring actor and performer Israel Cortez is very happy and excited by the huge reaction to his YouTube tour-de-farce rendition of "It's All Over," the ensemble number from "Dreamgirls" leading into the show's most popular song, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" performed by Effie White, the overweight singer being kicked out of the Dreams, the girl group she fronted.
Dreamgirls The 24-year-old La Palma, Calif., resident plays along with the film soundtrack as he switches identities, portraying the group's manager Curtis (Jamie Foxx), songwriter C.C. (Keith Robinson)  and the Dreams (BeyoncĂ© Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Sharon Leal) in their confrontation with the defiant Effie (Jennifer Hudson). We're giving you a link to the video rather than embedding it because the song contains some colorful language that may offend some adults and is not suitable for children.
Cortez's Effie wears a yellow headdress and a striped wrap. He dons a long white towel as a substitute for the long hair of Deena (Knowles).
His lip-syncing is precise, and Cortez displays no shortage of neck-twisting diva 'tude in channeling the strong-willed female characters.
"I'm a huge fan of the movie," said Cortez, who juggles auditions for cabarets and theater productions with two jobs as a restaurant server and a department store cashier. "The emotion of that scene is rough, but I wanted to make it funny."
He added, "Everybody covers 'And I Am Telling You,' so I wanted to do something out of the norm." He made the video about two months ago in his bedroom, filming each character individually. The entire process took about eight hours.
Dreamgirls musical While he has done other videos, including a tribute to Lady Gaga and a version of "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked," "It's All Over" has gotten the most attention from Web fans. "I'm really happy about it," Cortez said.
He also has a sense of synergy. The national tour of "Dreamgirls" is currently playing at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. "I've never seen the stage version," Cortez says. "I'm really hoping to get out there and see it."
One of the key lines in "It's All Over" is "Effie, we all have pain." Culture Monster certainly has pain -- in our sides from laughing so hard at Cortez's homage to "Dreamgirls."

Reimold's first test

 Reimold's first test

Nolan Reimold made his first exhibition appearance of the spring today and was immediately tested by Evan Longoria, who hit a fly ball deep into the gap in left center field. Reimold could not get there in time, but got close enough that it's fair to speculate that he might have if he was completely healthy.
No big deal. That's what spring training is for. He's still got a month to work the remaining soreness out of his heel.
Chris Tillman gave up hits to two of the first three Rays batters he faced in the first inning. Leadoff man Sean Rodriguez singled and scored on Longoria's one-out RBI double.

16 and pregnant chelsea

16 and pregnant chelsea

Based on the show’s title alone, you know the basics about last night’s episode of 16 and Pregnant. What the title doesn’t tell you is that the teen moms on the show can sometimes defy preconceived notions and make really good decisions. Case and point: Chelsea.
Here’s the backstory (and first half of the episode): Adam is Chelsea’s boyfriend and the father of her child. Chelsea’s dad does not like Adam because he’s disrespectful, unreliable, and speaks condescendingly to his daughter (and, you know, knocked her up…). But after a private chat in the kitchen, Chelsea’s dad is reasonably convinced the teen father will be reliable after the baby is born. Yeah, he was wrong.
Immediately following the birth of the couple’s premature daughter, Aubree, Adam seems to be on a noble path. He even asks that the baby be given his last name. It soon becomes obvious that his pro-active approach is short-lived, however. The morning after Chelsea’s release from the hospital, she’s eager to go see her still-hospitalized daughter. Adam has other ideas: sleep. It’s downhill after that.
He seems more interested in pulling all-nighters standing under the hood of his car when he could spend the night standing over his daughter’s crib. At one point, Chelsea mentions that Adam hasn’t seen their daughter in three weeks. When she tries to confront him about it, he tells her to ‘’stop being annoying.” Poor Chelsea falls into a bit of a depression, but doesn’t let it get in the way of caring for Aubree. Still, her concerned friends and father encourage her to move on.
Determined to get a slice of her life back, Chelsea went to her high school’s Homecoming football game, but came home early because she missed Aubree. After learning she went out, Adam texted Chelsea some of the most hateful messages I’d ever seen (one is quoted below). He insulted Chelsea’s skills as a mom, called their daughter ”a mistake,” and talked about her stretch marks — yea, he went there.
Chelsea called her father in tears and begged him to come home, which he did. But after the meltdown, Chelsea had an epiphany: She had to move on. Shortly after, with her dad and best friend in tow, Chelsea went to a law office and changes Aubree’s last name. Adam is officially out of the picture. It was great to see Chelsea step up for her baby and her future.
Before you consume the noteworthy moments below, tell me: What did you think of 16 and Pregnant? Would you like to see more of the teen moms take a stand against bad boyfriends? Did Chelsea’s mature decision surprise you? Sound off below!
Most [adjective here] moment:
Uncomfortable – Tie: Chelsea and her friend talking about pooping during childbirth and Chelsea trying out the breast pump on Adam.
Hateful – Adam’s comment after he did not go to the pediatrician’s office with Chelsea when Aubree became ill. ”Looks like you did fine. She’s not dead or anything.”
Angering – Adam’s (English language-decimating) text message to Chelsea: ”no I want u to feel like the most worthless stupid f— in the world u better believe its so over for the rest of ourlives ya fat stretch mark b—-…”
Wise – Chelsea’s dad telling her: ”You need to start using [Adam's] meanness as your motivation to get out of this,” after Adam sends her the above text message.
Slow clap-worthy – Chelsea signing the papers to change the baby’s last name to her own.

google apps marketplace

google apps marketplace

In a move likely to accelerate the development and adoption of online business applications, Google on Tuesday evening launched the Google Apps Marketplace, an online store that third-party developers can use to sell their Web apps to administrators and users of both the free and paid versions of Google Apps.
The Google App Marketplace offers developers access to over 25 million Google Apps users, a group that includes some 2 million businesses.
Web apps that support OpenID-based single sign-on and OAuth-authorized access to Google Apps data can be made available to Google Apps administrators and installed in no more than four clicks. Once installed, third-party apps work just like native Google applications and are integrated with the menus in Google Apps.
"With administrator approval, [third-party apps] may interact with calendar, email, document and/or contact data to increase productivity," explains Chris Vander Mey, senior product manager for Google Apps in a blog post. "Administrators can manage the applications from the familiar Google Apps control panel, and employees can open them from within Google Apps."
Thanks to OpenID integration, explains Vander Mey, Google Apps users can access third-party applications without having to sign-in to each one. They also do not have to worry about updating them or manually syncing and sharing data, he says, resulting in improved productivity, a better user experience, and easier administration.
The price is a 20% share of application revenue from new customers, which must be handled through Google Checkout in the near future.
For the next few months, companies can continue to bill for Web app use on their own. Google is forgiving any revenue sharing obligation between March 9 and three months after it releases its Marketplace Billing APIs, due in the second quarter of this year. Expect to see the APIs released around Google's developer conference in May.
Exemptions from revenue sharing obligations include revenue from pre-existing customers, ad revenue, service fees for installation, consulting or support, e-commerce services that sell goods, revenue from customers who are no longer Google Apps users, tax-related charges, and revenue from customers acquired during the billing exemption period.
Web apps do not have to run on Google App Engine. Companies that wish to retain control over their applications can run them in their own data centers, so long as they can connect to Google's systems through OpenID and OAuth.
Sonian provides e-mail archiving in a hosted environment. It uses a cloud model to provide reliability and scale.
"That was a very conscious choice on our part," said Google engineering director David Glazer in a phone interview. "We think we should be providing the best tools and the best distribution for Web apps and those should not be coupled."
Google's oversight of its Apps Marketplace should be much more relaxed than Apple's management of its iTunes App Store, often criticized for its opaque and arbitrary rules.
Google does have technical compatibility requirements for the apps it sells, but its restrictions on content appear to be more permissive than Apple's. The intended audience for the Google Apps Marketplace -- business professionals -- is likely to limit the availability of cookie-cutter, soft-core apps that plague the iTunes App Store. There is a one-time $100 fee to publish listings in the Marketplace.
The Google Apps Marketplace Distribution agreement states that the company does not intend to monitor apps submitted to its store, but adds that it will remove them for intellectual property infringement, violations of the law or based on an injunction, pornography, obscenity, terms of service violations, the creation of liability for Google, malware, and ongoing user complaints.
On opening day, Google already counts more than 50 companies selling their online applications, including companies that compete with Google. On the shelves of the Google Apps Marketplace, one can find Intuit Online Payroll, Manymoon project management, Appirio's Professional Services Connect, Atlassian's JIRA Studio, and Zoho's suite of productivity and collaboration programs, among others.
"We think competition is great," said Glazer. "We believe the future is the cloud. And we're committed to the cloud for enterprises."
Raju Vegesna, evangelist for Zoho, an online productivity suite that competes in some areas with Google Apps, said in a phone interview, "We admire Google for their openness."
Zoho, he said, integrated with Google Apps on a sign-on level about six months ago. Having proceeded with ad hoc integration, he said that the company jumped at the opportunity to work more formally with Google's platform.
He said there are other Web application platforms, like Force.com, but they're not as open, because you have to build your applications on their platform. With the Google Apps Marketplace, "We can run Zoho apps in our own data center, where we have control," he said.
He believes Google will be successful because its platform is built around e-mail, which he refers to as "a commodity app." Building a platform around CRM, he suggests, doesn't make as much sense because not everyone uses CRM software.
Melissa Webster, program VP of content and digital media technologies at research consultancy IDC, sees Google's alliances shifting. She observes that Salesforce.com, a Google partner in years past, is conspicuously absent from the Google Apps Marketplace while Salesforce rivals NetSuite and SuccessFactors are featured prominently.
She also sees the App Marketplace appealing to developers.
"Google Apps have enough adoption at this point that the customer base is interesting for developers," she said in an e-mail. "I think it's interesting too how Google is pricing: The mobile apps stores give developers just 70% of the take, whereas Google's giving them 80%, so from an incentive perspective, the plan should look generous. Early adopters should have an advantage, as the catalog will be smaller and they'll have better visibility. Over time, it will become more challenging to be visible, and add-in vendors will have to do more on the marketing side to boost their popularity."
She characterizes the App Marketplace as a Google move for Google at a good time.

World marks International Women's Day

World marks International Women's Day

The world today celebrates International Women's Day on Monday, an annual celebration that highlights their economic, political and social achievements.
"International Women's Day is the story of common women as makers of history; it is deep rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men," the United Nations says.
The day was marked for the first time in the early 1900s. More than one million women and men attended rallies in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911, according to the United Nations.
They demanded the right to vote and hold public office, and for an end to job discrimination.
'It is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of women's rights," the United Nations says

on the beach movie

on the beach movie

There was still an indie spirit at the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards, but the event had a significantly different feel than it did for the past 18 years at the beach. While the colorful language and free form acceptances were in tact along with the irreverent hosting by British comedian Eddie Izzard, moving it from afternoon to evening still seemed to make it a more grown up affair. More of the ladies wore cocktail dresses and many of the men wore suits, which was much more formal than the afternoon at the beach style of past years.

More awards coverage

More than anything this year's event was a slick television show, which was beamed live by IFC. For those sitting at tables in the back half of the tent erected on the upper level of L.A. Live, much of the night was spent nearly blinded by banks of ultra bright spotlights aimed at the tables and away from the stage. A woman at my table wore sunglasses all evening and I wished I had brought mine along. It was bad enough that more than half the audience couldn't actually see the stage from where they sat because the room had no risers; but the spotlights made it hard to watch the giant screens suspended in air without distraction. The program moved swiftly, with graphics that were slicker than in the past, and celebrity presenters who for the most part stuck to scripted banter.

The move from Santa Monica beach to downtown L.A. was handled smoothly. But it inevitably had the effect of making the 25th anniversary show more of a cocktail party gone wild, but not too wild. Izzard did his best to keep it lively. "I am a transvestite with a career," he announced, explaining his credentials. "Independent is tattooed on my spine."

He was at his funniest in the beginning, and even then he had his stumbles. "Before we start," he announced in his opening monologue, "I want to announce there is no god...He's not here but we are here, and thanks for the stunned silence. So God bless America just means have a good time.

Then it was off to the races.

Scott Cooper, who won best first feature, for "Crazy Heart" thanked a long list of people and finished by praising Fox Searchlight: "If not for them, as my agents say, this picture would have gone straight to radio."

About Town gallery

Jeff Bridges performed from the movie before winning as best actor. It was a sweet, laconic performance with a band featuring T. Bone Burnett, his pal and musical director of the film. It was a unique moment since Bridges and Burnett will not get to perform live on the Oscars, where the original songs are being done as clips from the movies.

Mo'Nique continued on her road to Oscar glory, as part of the sweep of the major awards by "Precious." She said that the movie was not only independent, it was low budget.

That was a swipe at the many movies which qualify as Indies under the Spirit Award rules but cost millions and were made by big movie companies. "Precious" really was an indie effort, financed on a shoestring $11 million budget, and shot before it was acquired for distribution by Lionsgate.

Izzard came back occasionally, increasingly less funny, obviously more drunk and harder to understand each time as his accent deepened and he spoke more rapidly.

"I spoke to God," Izzard announced midway through the show, "and he apologizes for not existing."

Rock gods Anvil came out to perform a very loud heavy metal number before winning the documentary award. There was a genuine sense that they were grateful for the recognition after being snubbed in the documentary category by the Oscars.

The most heartfelt moment of the evening came when film critic Roger Ebert and his wife Chazz were introduced, as the award for non-fiction movies was renamed in their honor. Ebert's foundation is putting up the $25,000 annual prize.

The final presenter was a bearded Ben Stiller, who brought on two women and a man introduced as porn stars to roll around in simulated sex while he announced the nominees for best picture. "I think it's great even though I've been in 350 big budget studio pictures," said Stiller, "I'm here representing independent movies.

In the end it was an entertaining show, even if the lights made it difficult to watch at times. But I still missed the beach. Search Amazon.com for on the beach movie

world's youngest mother

Chinese girl, 9, becomes one of world's youngest mothers after giving birth to a baby boy

A very strange news was reported that a nine-year-old Chinese schoolgirl has become one of the world's youngest mothers after giving birth to a healthy boy.
The unnamed girl was brought to a hospital in Changchun, which lies in the north-east of the country, when she was eight and a half months pregnant.
Two days later, she gave birth to the 6lb boy by Caesarean section, a Chinese newspaper has reported.
Songyuan, China
The girl, nine, who apparently gave birth to a healthy baby boy is said to come from the town of Songyuan (pictured) in north-east China. Her family refuse to discuss the pregnancy, but say they have reported it to the police

The child comes from the nearby town of Songyuan. Her family refused to discuss the pregnancy, but confirmed they had reported it to the police.
Last night police were reportedly trying to establish who the father is.
In the province, sex with a child under the age of 14 brings an automatic rape conviction and a lengthy jail sentence.
A legal expert told the paper that women under the age of 14 do not have sexual rights  - 'so any argument of being consensual as a defence is completely untenable,' he said.
He added: 'Anyone who had sexual relations with a girl under 14 means they have committed rape and is to be punished severely.'
A  hospital in China's largest city, Shanghai, recently said that about 30 per cent of abortions were on school-aged girls.
The youngest reported mother in the world - and the most bizarre of all young pregnancy cases - is five-year-old Lina Medina of Peru, who gave birth to a 6lb son named Gerardo in a Caesarean operation in 1939.
lina medina

Her father was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse but was later released because of lack of evidence.
In 1957 another Peruvian girl, aged nine, gave birth to a girl weighing just over 6lb and, curiously, it was in 2006 that yet another Peruvian girl, aged eight, gave birth to a 4lb 4oz girl.
Several other girls aged nine, from Thailand, Singapore, Rwanda and Brazil, have also given birth.
Mothers aged as young as 10 and 11 have also become an increasing occurrence.
The youngest mother in Britain is believed to have been 11 when she got pregnant and 12 years old when she gave birth.

Nick Schuyler narrates the harrowing of hell to Oprah

Nick Schuyler, the sole survivor of the tragic boating trip which went horrifically wrong, revealed his harrowing experience of watching three of his closest friends succumbing to death right in front of his eyes in a no-holds-barred emotional interview at the Oprah Winfrey Show last evening.
After his tell-all interview at The Today Show, Nick Schuyler a former personal trainer who had once played football for the University of South Florida revealed to the chat show queen, Oprah how he tried in vain to free a stuck anchor by relentlessly kicking the boat engine which capsized the boat and caused them to plummet into the freezing waters of the Gulf of Mexico amidst the raging storm.
According to Tampabay.com, the Harpo Productions host, Oprah devoted the entire 60 minute episode trying to discern what actually transpired between the four friends during the fateful journey before three of them died. Nick Schuyler along with three of his closest buddies: Marquis Victor Cooper, the NFL football linebacker drafted by Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFL free agent defensive lineman Corey Smith and former football player of University of South Florida Will Bleakley left Clearwater Pass on February 28 at 6:30 a.m. originally scheduled to return that night but ended up being trapped in the overturned vessel. A huge search party was launched at the wake of their disappearance, however, only Schuyler was found clinging on to the capsized boat for dear life after 43 hours by the rescuers. He narrated how each of the trio became delirious after hypothermia crept in their bones, Cooper being the first one to die followed by smith and then finally Bleakley unable to withstand the torturous chill. When asked by the host if they had indulged in drinking the sole survivor revealed that none of them had touched alcohol that day.
Not Without Hope, the novel penned by Schuyler chronicling the fatal events at the storm-tossed seas which led to his friends’ death and almost claimed his life hits the bookstands this Tuesday marking the one year anniversary of the tra

Officers hurt, gunman killed in Pentagon shooting

WASHINGTON – A gunman coolly drew a weapon from his pocket and opened fire at a security checkpoint into the Pentagon on Thursday in a point-blank attack that wounded two police officers before the suspect was fatally shot.
The two officers suffered grazing wounds and were being treated in a hospital, said Richard Keevill, chief of Pentagon police. The shooter, identified as John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif., died hours after being admitted to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. They had no motive for the shooting.
There were signs, however, that Bedell may have harbored resentment for the military and had doubts about the facts behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
In an Internet posting, a user by the name JPatrickBedell wrote that he was "determined to see that justice is served" in the death of Marine Col. James Sabow, who was found dead in the back yard of his California home in 1991. The death was ruled a suicide but the case has long been the source of theories of a coverup.
The user named JPatrickBedell wrote the Sabow case was "a step toward establishing the truth of events such as the September 11 demolitions."
That same posting railed against the government's enforcement of marijuana laws and included links to the author's 2006 court case in Orange County, Calif., for cultivating marijuana and resisting a police officer. Court records available online show the date of birth on the case mentioned by the user JPatrickBedell matches that of the John Patrick Bedell suspected in the shooting.
The shooter walked up to the checkpoint at the Pentagon's subway entrance in an apparent attempt to get inside the massively fortified Defense Department headquarters. "He just reached in his pocket, pulled out a gun and started shooting" no more than five feet away, Keevill said. "He walked up very cool. He had no real emotion on his face." The Pentagon officers returned fire with semiautomatic weapons.
Bedell's death was confirmed early Friday by Beverly Fields, chief of staff of the D.C. medical examiner's office; and Leigh Fields, medical legal investigator for the office. Both said Bedell's body had arrived at the medical examiner's office.
The assault at the very threshold of the Pentagon — the U.S. capital's ground zero on Sept. 11, 2001 — came four months after a deadly attack on the Army's Fort Hood, Texas, post allegedly by a U.S. Army psychiatrist with radical Islamic leanings. In the immediate aftermath Thursday, investigators did not think terrorism was involved but were not ruling that out and did not discuss possible motives.
President Barack Obama was closely following the case with updates from the FBI through his homeland securityJohn Brennan," White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said. and counterterrorism adviser,
Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Bedell, 36. They also said they were speaking with a second man, who might have accompanied the shooter, and were running his name through databases.
The subway station is immediately adjacent to the Pentagon building, a five-sided northern Virginia colossus across the Potomac River from Washington. Since a redesign following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, riders can no longer disembark directly into the building. Riders take a long escalator ride to the surface from the underground station, then pass through a security check outside the doors of the building, where further security awaits.
After the attack, all Pentagon entrances were secured, then all were reopened except one from the subway, said Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman. He said the subway entrance was likely to remain closed overnight at least.
Keevill said the gunman gave no clue to the officers at the checkpoint about what he was going to do.
"There was no distress," he said. "When he reached into his pocket, they assumed he was going to get a pass and he came up with a gun."
"He wasn't pretending to be anyone. He was wearing a coat and walked up and just started shooting."
Keevill added: "We have layers of security and it worked. He never got inside the building to hurt anyone."
Law enforcement sources said Bedell was from California. California Voter Registration records show that Bedell was born on May 20, 1973, and lived in Hollister at his parents' home.
Ronald Domingues, 74, lives next door to Bedell's parents in a gated golf course community in Hollister, but said he does not know the family, which includes two other sons, well. He said Bedell lived with his parents on and off, but he had not seen him recently. Bedell occasionally helped his parents with yard work and struck him "like a normal young man."
"He just seemed like a normal guy to me," Domingues said. "I wouldn't suspect he would be involved in anything like this."
Domingues described the neighborhood as middle-class. He said the Bedells live in a one story southwestern-style stucco house. The home was dark on Thursday night.
A Pentagon official working late in the building said people inside first heard of the shooting on television. They were later told the building was locked down and to stay in place.
Then at around 7:30 p.m., they heard an announcement on the public address system that they could leave through Corridor 3 — one widely used to get access to one of the parking lots.
"We really don't know anything, just that we can leave now through that corridor," one official said on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak about the incident.
