If you enjoyed seeing Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone in the CBS movie Thin Ice, then you'll want to check out the other movies in the series.
The movies are based on the detective novels of Robert B Parker and can be purchased on Amazon.com or at any book store.
The first movie, Stone Cold, was released in 2005, and that was followed by Jesse Stone: Night Passage in 2006 and Death in Paradise later that year. Sea Change aired in 2007 and now we have Thin Ice which originally aired in March 2009. You can also purchase all of the Jesse Stone movies on DVD through Amazon.
Next year, we'll see two more Jesse Stone movies, No Remorse and Innocents Lost. For more information, visit Robert B. Parker's website.
Tom Selleck may be known as Magnum P.I. to many of us, but he's really making a name for himself as Jesse Stone. Now if only they could make it a weekly series!

Apparently it wasn't an accident that the TSA neglected to tell us how airport security rules have changed in response to Friday's terror attempt. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced yesterday that there are new, more-restrictive security procedures for americans to comply with at airports, but we're not cleared to know what they are.
According to Napolitano, not only are the new regulations super-secret, they're not uniform, meaning, effectively, the public has no way of knowing whether the actions of TSA employees, who we're legally required to obey, are appropriate or not.
What we can be fairly sure security screening will not include:$795 million worth of screening technology the General Accounting Office says we've paid for but never used. In the case of the explosives trace portal, which was meant to sense, say, underwear-borne plastic explosives, an untested system was deployed in 2006 and taken offline six months later.

The old saying says "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!" Rachel Ray is well known for her work in the kitchen and her TV talk show where she shows off her cooking skills. Did you know that six years ago there were Rachel Ray racy photos released of the sexy cooking celeb?FHM published its "The 100 Sexiest Women in the World" for 2009, and they've re-published the photos on their website. One depicts Rachel Ray holding a freshly baked pie in one hand while wearing a provocative cooking outfit showing her midriff. Another photo has Rachel licking the chocolate off a wooden spoon, while a third pic shows her eating a strawberry. It's definitely a younger, sassier and sexier Rachel Ray compared to the one we see on TV nowadays!

kalika moquin

kalika moquin

It's a triple bogey for Tiger Woods.
A Las Vegas nightclub executive has become the third woman linked to the world's top golfer.
But Kalika Moquin is not ready to kiss and tell. "It's not appropriate for me to comment one way or the other," Moquin told Life & Style magazine.
"At this time, I'm just choosing to focus on my job."
Moquin, a hot brunette marketing manager for The Bank nightclub in Las Vegas, hooked up with Woods more than once at his Las Vegas hotel during the weekend of Oct. 23, the magazine reported.
They cited "an insider" as its source. "They've hooked up a bunch of times," Life & Style's unnamed source said.
"Tiger told Kalika that married life isn't all it's built up to be. He said he wasn't happy in his marriage or his home life and that there was just so much pressure on him."
Club promoter Rachel Uchitel, 34, and Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, 23, have also been named in reports as women with whom Woods, who has groomed a squeaky clean reputation, has cheated on his wife of five years, Elin Nordegren.
Woods' representatives would not comment, the magazine reported.
The allegations of tryst with Moquin, come as Grubbs claimed to have a long and tawdry affair with the golf great and said she had photos and hundreds of "racy" text messages to prove it.
"Send me something very naughty," Woods reportedly wrote in a text message that Grubbs turned over to Us Weekly. "Go to the bathroom and take ."

"I will wear you out," Woods reportedly wrote to Grubbs in another. Grubbs said the affair began in April 2007, and insists their relationship was more than just sex.
"He told me just last month, 'Quietly and secretly we will always be together,'" Grubbs said.
Tales of the golfer's serial flings emerged after he crashed his Cadillac Escalade outside his home on Friday Tales of Woods' sexual adventures began after he crashed his Cadillac Escalade outside his Orlando home Friday.
The 33-year-old golf great escaped criminal charges for the wreck, but reputation was badly dented by reports he was having an affair with Uchitel.
The New York party girl categorically denied a fling - but the hits kept coming.
Citing unnamed sources, Us reported that Woods had other "dalliances" with a "Las Vegas marketing professional at the MGM grand hotel," with a blond and a brunette at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in upstate New York and regularly hits on girls at an Orlando bar.
Grubbs, 24, said Woods told her to keep quiet before the National Enquirer broke the story about Uchitel.

"Hey, it's Tiger," Woods reportedly said in a Nov. 24 voice mail. "I need you to do me a huge favor." Woods then explained that his wife "went through my phone and may be calling you," the magazine reported.
"So if you can, please take your name off that." Until now, Grubbs was best known as the girlfriend of Shawn (Loud Mouth Tool) Southern, one of the oafish contestants on VH1's reality series, "Tool Academy."
A man at the home of Grubbs' mother's house in a San Diego suburb said Southern was out of the picture.
Grubbs says her romance with Woods began when the duffer tapped her on the shoulder and said, "You don't look like you're having any fun."
Grubbs said she partied with Woods and his posse and had sex with the golf champ for the first time a few days later in San Diego.
"Afterward, he was like, 'You should probably go,'" she said, explaining that Woods prefers to sleep alone.
Grubbs said they had sex about 20 times and that Woods frequently complained that "his life is overwhelming."
While Woods is one of the world's richest athletes, he often lamented that "he wasn't as financially stable as he wanted to be," she said.
A friend and castmember of Southern's on "Tool Academy," Ryan Matsunaga, said Woods used to call Grubbs on the set, driving Southern bonkers.
"Shawn really cared about Jaimee, and Tiger was calling her when they were dating. Not cool," Matsunaga said.
"When you're an alpha male, that makes you want to put your fist through a wall." Grubbs also apologized to Woods' wife.
"I loved how we got along," she told Us.
"But I knew in the back of my mind there could never be just us. There would always be the wife, or somebody else.

gluteoplasty

gluteoplasty

Plastic surgeons have always been keen to make money and often come up with novel procedures to help people beautiful. One such procedure is the buttock lift or gluteoplasty. The surgery is quite common and many women undergo the procedure to improve the contours of the buttocks. What is surprising is that men also undergo gluteoplasty. In many people, the buttocks are flat, sagging and unattractive.
To improve the buttock aesthetics, the surgeon improves the shape of the buttocks using delicate surgical maneuvers with the use of silicone gel prosthetics. There are a variety of prosthesis that can be used to improve the buttock profile. When done well, the buttocks look rounded, well shaped and have curves. The prosthesis is typically placed in between the gluteal muscles and is not visible from outside. The incisions are small and easily hidden from view.

The surgery is done under general anesthesia and most people require an overnight stay in the hospital. While the surgery is not complicated, unpredictable complications do occur. The most common complication is asymmetry of the buttock – this occurs when the prosthesis moves and if this happens, another surgery is required. The results of a redo surgery usually turn out to be disastrous.
The other side effect includes infection of the prosthesis which can be devastating and even lead to death. Furthermore, all individuals should remember not to get any injections in the buttock area for fear of puncturing the prosthesis.
Experts say that the surgery only works well in a few women. While buttocks can be enhanced by gluteal implants, sometimes the risks outweigh the benefits. Just recently, Miss Argentina 1994 died after this so called harmless cosmetic surgery.

toby gerhart

toby gerhart

In perhaps the most impressive Heisman Trophy statement of the season, Toby Gerhart rushed for 205 yards on 29 caries, scoring three rushing touchdowns and passing 18 yards for another in Stanford's thrilling 45-38 comeback win over Notre Dame. Gerhart -- oh, he also caught a pass for 33 yards -- was simply a beast, repeatedly punishing the Notre Dame defense. He never went down on first contact, and it's certain that more than a handful of Fighting Irish defenders are going to be worse for wear Sunday morning.

Stanford's Toby Gerhart rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns against Notre Dame. He also threw for a touchdown. This was Notre Dame's fourth consecutive defeat, so the program already was hurting. The Irish finish the season 6-6, with all six loses coming by seven or fewer points. Coach Charlie Weis is almost certainly going to be looking for work this winter. But this one was about Gerhart and Stanford, which finishes the season 8-4 and will be heading to its first bowl game since 2001. The Cardinal, by the way, went 1-11 in 2006, the season before coach Jim Harbaugh arrived. Notre Dame took a 14-10 lead in the first quarter and didn't trail until Gerhart's final TD run with a minute left -- a run in which the Irish appeared to let him score in order to get the ball back. The Irish drove to the Stanford 24, but couldn't punch in a tying TD. For much of the game, the offenses dominated the opposing defenses. Notre Dame countered Gerhart with Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate, a pass-catch combination that had the Cardinal secondary on its heels. Clausen completed 23 of 30 passes for 340 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Tate hauled in 10 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. But the Cardinal defense got the game's critical stop with six minutes left. On a third-and-2 from the Irish 35, running back Robert Hughes was stopped for no gain. Stanford took over. Or Gerhart took over. He rushed seven times for 54 yards on the 10-play, 72-yard game-winning drive, treating the Irish defenders like they were pinball bumpers. At this point, it's impossible to imagine that Gerhart won't be invited to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. This performance, however, may have made this a two-man contest with Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, though a couple of fellows playing in the SEC championship game on Dec. 5 might make their own counter-statement. Gerhart has rushed for 1,736 yards this season -- 144.67 yards per game. His 26 rushing touchdowns lead the nation and are a new Pac-10 record. Moreover, in an age when speed kills, Gerhart reminds us that sometimes power ain't much fun to stop either. Not that Gerhart is slow. He hates it when folks doubt his speed, and we don't want to get on his bad side. He's a hard man. Some defenders might swear he's made of bronze

JENNIFER LOPEZ's fashion empire has fallen victim to the global recession - production on her Sweetface clothing line will cease once the spring collection hits stores. The Jenny From The Block hitmaker has banked millions from merchandising and brand deals, launching the Sweetface range in 2005 as a streetwear spin-off of her original JLO clothing collection. But, despite the line's popularity with fans, Lopez has confirmed work on future designs will come to a halt while the future of the brand is reviewed. The Spring 2009 collection will be the company's last for the foreseeable future. A statement on behalf of the fashion house reads, "In light of new company strategies, we have decided to put the Sweetface line on hiatus while we prepare to reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view.” Lopez isn't the only celebrity designer to feel the pinch in tough economic times - singer/actress Mandy Moore's Mblem and The Hills star Lauren Conrad's lines are also currently on hiatus

For NASA the discovery means it is possible to build a base on the moon - then live off the land.

I think world has not forgotten the massive attackes over the newyorkers and the rest of US,

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and four others accused in the attacks will be put on criminal trial in New York, Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to announce later Friday.
The decision, described by people familiar with the matter, is part of wider announcement planned on how to bring to justice detainees held at the Guantanamo Bay prison. It's the first set of decisions before a Monday deadline on how to deal with the more than 200 prisoners remaining at the facility, which President Barack Obama has ordered closed.
In this March 1, 2003 file picture, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is seen shortly after his capture during a raid in Pakistan.
Also expected in the announcement Friday will be plans to hold a military tribunal for Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, alleged to have planned the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole.
Mr. Mohammed's trial in New York was widely expected since the Obama administration announced a preference to hold criminal trials, instead of military commissions for terror suspects held at Guantanamo. New York's Manhattan U.S. attorney competed with the district in northern Virginia, home to the Pentagon, to prosecute the 9/11 accused and senior al Qaeda leader. A team of prosecutors from both districts will handle the government's case, people familiar with the matter said.
Formal charges aren't expected to be announced for another few weeks. Mr. Mohammed has claimed authorship of the attacks, but he has also accused U.S. interrogators of torturing him. U.S. officials have acknowledged the use of harsh tactics, including water boarding, a technique intended to simulate drowning, which Mr. Obama and other government officials have called torture.
Mr. Obama signed an executive order Jan. 22 to close the prison within a year. Since then, the administration has run into obstacles erected by lawmakers, including some Democrats, who are nervous about political implications of moving detainees to the U.S. The deadline is expected to slip, administration officials have said, but plans to close the prison remain on track.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy and BD-Live) [Blu-ray] (2009)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

My main gripe with the previous Harry Potter movie "Order of the Phoenix" was that for some strange reason they took the longest of the books and turned it into the shortest Harry Potter movie to date. The result was that I felt like I was watching the movie fly by on a speeding train, as it rushed from one key event to another without really taking the time to explore anything in detail. Now we follow up with "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" and....what a difference. There are plenty of cuts of course, no Harry Potter movie can be free of cuts without being waaaay too long. But the movie's length was at least comparable to some of the others. The 3 lead characters were as spot on as ever. Michael Gambon finally brings a bit more warmth to his portrayal of Albus Dumbledor than he brought to the last few movies. Tom Felton played Draco Malfoy with all the depth one would hope for in his most important role in the series. Alan Rickman isn't seen too much as Severus Snape, but when he is he's as wonderful as ever. I really think this may be the best Harry Potter film yet, and I was really starting to think after the last film that the story had gotten to big for them to manage in film. Good work guys

who owns twitter

who owns twitter

The Twitter Blog has a short blog post mentioning that they have added technology “to show higher quality results for trend queries by returning tweets that are more useful.” Clearly, this is Twitter’s first step in improving Twitter Search by adding relevancy and search quality factors to the search algorithm.
Currently, Twitter Search returns results based on keyword match and the most recent tweet. Trending Topics is the first of Twitter’s search areas to get the relevancy filter, to reduce the “noise” that Twitter Search has. We knew Twitter was working on adding relevancy factors with linkage data, and I assume this is the first signs of it. In the Twitter blog post, Twitter said it might be very noticeable right now, but they hope to improve it over time.
You can test it out for yourself at Twitter Search and clicking on one of the “trending topics.”
In other Twitter news, Twitter is experimenting with adding retweet buttons to some user accounts. There seems to be a lot more buzz around the “retweet” button then around the Twitter Search relevancy addition.

Faced with the toughest financial crunch in decades, hotels are moving beyond typical discounts and offering unusual promotions to lure clients and create buzz.
The 27-room Crane's BeachHouse in Delray Beach, for example, offers a ``The Bed-in for Peace'' package linked with a nearby exhibit marking John Lennon and Yoko Ono's eight-day ``bed-in'' during 1969. The package includes champagne, fruit and other goodies to make breakfast without leaving your room.
Crane's threw a ``Give Peace a Chance'' party last week, featuring a replica of the famous bed, with guests asked to wear '60s styles and enjoy ``hippy hour'' drinks.
In California, the 119-room Hotel Erwin on Venice Beach offers an ``Ink and Stay'' package with $100 toward a tattoo and a bottle of tequila to numb the pain.
Hotels are reacting to a dismal travel market. Nationwide this summer, occupancy rates hovered below 60 percent, the lowest since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. And revenues per available rooms dropped almost 20 percent to less than $60, the steepest dive in 22 years, Smith Travel Research said.
Hoteliers long have turned to promotions in slow times. But travel experts say more properties now rely on specials to survive.
South Florida hotels are pitching some of the most creative deals to offset a roughly 20 percent drop in revenues regionwide so far this year.
At the 124-room Atlantic Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, for instance, a ``Cheers for Years'' deal gives a restaurant or spa credit equal to the age of the oldest in the room. A guest age 54, for example, gets $54 credit per day, after showing his driver's license as proof of age.
The 392-room Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura now offers guests a ``Future Floridian'' package: Hunt for a South Florida home and you receive a preferred list of Realtors, GPS to navigate the area, valet parking plus two, one-hour massages for ``tired footsies.''
Buy a home in the area, and Turnberry will throw in a resort discount for ``future house guests.''
Hoteliers are touting packages to avoid cutting room rates directly. They fear a consumer backlash if they slash rates now and try to raise them later in better times.
``The hotels are doing anything they can to increase usage without reducing prices,'' said Sam Shank, chief executive of dealbase.com, an online search engine for hotel deals.
For guests, not all packages mean big savings. Some aim more to generate publicity for hotels.
For example, the tattoo package at Hotel Erwin starts at $399 per night. But if guests buy the $269 room, $100 tattoo voucher, $20 bottle of tequila, and lotion and ice for the pain, the total would come to roughly the same price, Shank estimates.

Still one more day til Halloween (Silver Shamrock!), but as this will be the final Today in Film Bloggery post ever on SpoutBlog, it’s my only opportunity to do a roundup of what the blogs are posting this week related to the holiday of candy and costumes.
I’ll actually be dressing up as something non-film-related tomorrow (”Moss” from UK series The IT Crowd), but I do plan on watching some horror flicks (including Paranormal Activity), which I rarely do, on Halloween or any other day. Maybe if I’m feeling academic — and since my present job situation has me aiming to get my PhD in cinema studies — I’ll break out Mary Ann Sloan’s essay “Film and the Masquerade” and attempt to make it relative to the festivities (I know, it’s a real stretch).
What will you be doing? Comment with your film-related costumes and/or plans after checking out what the film blogs are posting Halloween-related after the jump:

ESPN staffer Brooke Hundley remained "hopeful," according to her MySpace page, even as her former lover, baseball analyst Steve Phillips was fired by the network Sunday. Phillips checked himself into "an inpatient treatment facility to address his personal issues," according to his representative, Steve Lefkowitz. The extramarital affair became fuel for tabloids after Phillips' wife, Marni Phillips, filed a police report in Wilton, Conn. In the report, Marni Phillips said that 22-year-old Hundley had sent her a letter graphically describing their relationship, even mentioning the former Mets' general manager's birthmarks. Marni Phillips called police Aug. 19 when she came home to find Hundley in her driveway. "I knew instinctively that this was the woman Steve was involved with and I was terrified," she wrote in a statement to police. Hundley also contacted Phillips' 16-year-old son through his Facebook account, according to the police report.
"This woman has clearly displayed erratic behavior and delusional tendencies," Steve Phillips said in a statement to police. Phillips signed a statement to police that he would not press charges. The status of the police investigation was unclear Sunday. The report indicated a detective planned to interview Hundley this week when she returned from vacation. Marni Phillips filed for divorce Sept. 14, according to court records.

More than 130 dead in year's deadliest Iraq attack

This is so far considered to be the most deadliest n most biggest suicidal attack in bagdad the capital of iraq which today was rocked ith the two powerful car blasts, According to the officials n toll may rise, they say that at least 132 people were killed and 520 wounded in twin suicide car bombings in central Baghdad Sunday, officials said -- the deadliest attack on civilians in Iraq this year.
Two car bombs detonated in quick succession near Iraqi government buildings about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, as the Iraqi work week began, an Interior Ministry official said.
Among the wounded were three American security contractors, the U.S. Embassy told CNN. The embassy would not give any more details.
One of the bombs exploded outside Baghdad's governorate building. The second was outside the Justice Ministry, about 500 meters (1,600 feet) away. The Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works, which is about 50 meters from the Justice Ministry, also sustained severe damage.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki surveyed the carnage shortly after the explosions.
"The cowardly attack that took place today should not affect the determination of the Iraqi people from continuing their battle against the deposed regime and the gangs of criminal Baath party and the terrorist al Qaeda organization, who have committed the most heinous crimes against the civilians,'" al-Maliki said in a statement.
Plumes of smoke billowed from the sites of the attacks as victims fled, some with blood streaming down their faces. The streets were strewn with debris, including charred cars and chunks of concrete from damaged buildings. Some government buildings and others in the area were heavily damaged.

The bombings came a day after the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, visited the country for the first time, and on the same day Iraqi officials were due to try to break a logjam holding up a new election law. Iraqis are supposed to go to the polls January 16, but parliament still has not passed the legislation, putting the balloting in limbo. The original deadline for parliament to pass the law was October 15, because Iraq's electoral commission says it needs 90 days to organize the process.
Iraq's parliament failed Wednesday to reach agreement on a new electoral law, so the issue was supposed go to the Political Council for National Security on Sunday. It is not clear if the bombings will derail the political council's discussions.
Al-Maliki vowed to punish "the enemies of the Iraqi people who want to spread chaos in the country and derail the political process and prevent the parliamentary elections from taking place as planned" in January.
He said holding the elections as scheduled would send the strongest response and message to the "enemies of the political process who are supported from the outside."
Susan Rice, the ambassador, completed a two-day visit to Iraq on Saturday that included a condolence stop at the Foreign Ministry, where a huge bombing killed more than 100 in August.
Security was tightened around Baghdad in the wake of the August 19 attack, which Iraqis dubbed "Bloody Wednesday." Blast walls were erected around the city and more checkpoints were set up.
Iraqi journalists grilled officials on TV on Sunday, demanding to know how the new attacks could have taken place given the new security measures.
An Iraqi official said the government was working to bolster security, but regional cooperation was needed to help fight suicide bombers.
"We are calling on international and U.N. envoys to come and find out why Iraq is being targeted this way," said Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesman.
The spokesman said Iraq's setbacks are mainly caused by a fledgling intelligence that has "not been completed."
The European Union condemned "this terrorist attack" and sent its condolences to the families of the victims, the Swedish presidency said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry, near the site of Sunday's blasts, was one of six places attacked on August 19. That day's attacks killed at least 100 people and wounded hundreds more. The area is close to the heavily guarded Green Zone that also houses the U.S. Embassy.
The August attacks shook confidence in the abilities of Iraqi security forces who took over securing urban areas from U.S. troops over the summer.
The Iraqi government has blamed Syria for harboring former Baath party members, who it said planned the August attacks, and asked for their handover.
Relations between the two neighbors were strained after the bombings. Each withdrew its ambassador from the other's country.
Security in the capital was tightened after the August bombings, and a decision to normalize the situation in Baghdad by taking down blast walls was reversed and checkpoints increased.
Iraqi and U.S. officials have warned of a possible increase in violence ahead of the country's national elections.

More than 130 dead in year's deadliest Iraq attack

This has been so far the most deadliest attack that bagdad has ever faceed alone this year, offcials says n still believe that the toll may rise, they say that at least 132 people were killed and 520 wounded in twin suicide car bombings in central Baghdad Sunday, officials said -- the deadliest attack on civilians in Iraq this year.
Two car bombs detonated in quick succession near Iraqi government buildings about 10:30 a.m., an Interior Ministry official said.
One of the bombs exploded outside Baghdad's governorate building and the second one outside the Justice Ministry, about 500 meters (1,600 feet) away.
Iraqis are supposed to go to the polls in January, but parliament still has not passed the legislation, putting the balloting in limbo.
Iraq's parliament failed Wednesday to reach agreement on a new electoral law, so the issue was supposed go to the Political Council for National Security on Sunday. It is not clear if the bombings will derail the political council's discussions.
Rice completed a two-day visit to Iraq on Saturday that included a condolence stop at the Foreign Ministry, where a huge bombing killed more than 100 in August.
Iraqi and U.S. officials have warned of a possible increase in violence ahead of the country's national elections scheduled for January 16.

baby einstein refund

baby einstein refund

The Disney Company markets the Baby Einstein product line as an educational tool for very young children from ages 3 months to 3 years. The subjects covered are usually classical in nature. However more prominent research shows them to be ineffective in their goal prompting Baby Einstein refund.
Disney is offering a full refund of $15.99 to anyone who purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 5, 2004 and Sept. 4, 2009. Consumers can also exchange the DVDs for Baby Einstein books, music or a 25 percent off coupon.
Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood claims the offer was the result of a Federal Trade Commission's reaction to the CCFC charge in 2006 as to the efficacy of video education methods. Baby Eintein reps claim otherwise, and the choice was a decision pursuant to a new parent's guide.
The decision may also be related to increasing preasure in light of recent research showing that the Baby Eintein series is not only ineffective but even detremental.
An August 2007 the Journal of Pediatrics released a study by researchers at the University of Washington on the effects of television and DVD/video viewing on language development in children under two years of age.
The study's authors, Drs. Frederick Zimmerman, Dimitri Christakis, and Andrew Meltzoff, concluded that exposure to "baby DVDs/videos" — such as Baby Einstein and Brainy Baby is strongly associated with lower scores on a standard language development test.
It does prove the admonishments of groups like the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood that having a coporation raise your child via electronic media is no substitute for the parent or real education.
The CCFC on their website claims this recall and the refund of Baby Einstein videos and products as a victory

daylight savings time schedule 2009

When is Daylight Savings Time? Your Daylight Savings Time Schedule for 2009 is about to end.
Daylight Savings Time will end November 1, 2009! So before you go to bed the night before, remember to set your clocks backwards. You will get an extra hour of sleep. Daylight Savings Time will next star the second Sunday in March 2010.
The concept of Daylight Savings Time came from George Vernon Hudson in 1895. But historians note that Romans used different clock scales in ancient times at different parts of the years.
Daylight Savings Time has always caused controversy. Churchill said once in support of Daylight Savings Time that it affords “the opportunities for the pursuit of health and happiness among the millions of people who live in this country”.

how to measure bra size

how to measure bra size

It is a shocking truth that more then 50% of women, today, are buying and wearing the wrong bra size. If you feel that your bra is slipping, sliding or digging into your flesh, you are probably wearing the wrong size. It is important to measure the correct size of your bra, because an ill-fitting one can lead to a number of ailments, such as neck strain, backache and rashes. While a tight bra puts undue strain on the shoulders and the bust, a loosely fitted brassier results in drooping breasts. On the other hand, a perfect fitting bra supports the breasts, without putting strain on the chest wall, neck, back and shoulders.

How To Measure Your Bra Size
* Wear a bra, in which you feel comfortable, after removing your top.
* Now, take measurements of the area around your rib cage, straight under your breasts, using a measuring tape. Make a note of this number.
* Add five to the number that you have just noted down. This will be your bra size.
* It is equally important to figure out the cup size for your bra, to ensure a perfect fit. Make use of the same measuring tape for the purpose.
* Measure the area around your chest, fully covering your bust. Now, subtract your bra size from the number that you have noted down in this above step. This will help you figure out your cup size.
* If the difference is somewhere between 0 and ½ inch, your cup size is AA. In case the difference is ½ to 1 inch, A will be the cup size of your bra.
* The cup size of your bra will be ‘B’, if the difference is between 1 and 2 ½ inches.
* The difference ranging from 2 ½ to 3 ½ inches indicates that your cup size is ‘C’. Your cup size is ‘D’, if the difference ranges from 3 ½ to 4 ½ inches.

windows 7 review

windows 7 review

Finally a long awaited windows has been launched by the big giant microsoft, there were rummers that this windows will prove a break through in the histrory of windows since its birth back in 1981. The first thing you'll notice about Windows 7 is that it looks like Vista. It also works like Vista, in the sense that it has the same plumbing underneath, except for a very welcome graphics upgrade to DX11. However, it works much better than Vista, and most of Vista's annoyances have either been removed, or (mostly) can be changed so the system works the way you like. It takes personalisation to extremes.
Microsoft has analysed the data from millions of user computing sessions to find out exactly what people do with their computers, then attacked the "pain points" to make Windows 7 quicker and smoother. (About 15m people used the Windows 7 beta.)
The most obvious difference is that Windows 7 doesn't keep annoying you with prompts — though it's also true that the latest version of Vista is much less annoying than the original. In fact, you can set the degree of annoyance on a sliding scale, though reducing it increases the risk of security breaches. However, Windows 7 is vastly more secure than XP and, in any case, the threat landscape has changed since XP was trashed by worms such as Blaster and Slammer. Today, the more important security changes are in the Internet Explorer 8 browser which, uniquely, defends against cross-site scripting.
Another obvious difference is that Windows 7 uses fewer resources.
Where Vista really needed 2GB of memory, Windows 7 will run quite happily in 1GB on a slow dual-core Intel processor, though I'd still recommend 2GB or, for preference, 4GB with the speedy 64-bit version of Windows 7.
The reduced footprint and some optimisation means Windows 7 sleeps and wakes up faster (though it's still not in the same class as Mac OS X).
And laptop batteries should last longer. I've been running Windows 7 on an Asus UL30 laptop with a claimed battery life of around 11 hours with Vista: it now does more than 12 hours.
Any PC that currently runs Vista will be better at running Windows 7 – a first for Microsoft – and it should also run on most PCs that will run XP SP2. (Search YouTube and you will find users showing off by loading it on unsuitable systems, including antiques with Pentium III chips.) The catch is that upgrading a PC running Windows XP requires a clean installation of Windows 7: you can't do an in-place upgrade. This has been a source of complaints, because it means reinstalling all your applications as well.
However, we've known for a dozen years that a clean installation of Windows usually works better, and geeks have generally recommended it.
Indeed, people used to reinstall Windows 95, 98 or Me just to clean up their systems, so it's silly to get hysterical about it now.
The Windows 7 interface has a few noticeable changes. First, the Vista sidebar has gone, but you can still use the clock and other gadgets, and you can position them wherever you like. Second, the QuickLaunch area and the TaskBar have been replaced by a sort of combo-pack.
Instead of putting applications in the QuickLaunch area, you can now right-click and pin them to the new-style Taskbar, alongside running applications.
As in Vista, hovering over a Taskbar icon shows one or more mini-previews, depending on how many windows you're using, except now they're interactive. Hovering over a mini-preview shows it full size on the desktop, while right-clicking provides a Jump List of options.
It makes it dramatically easier to see what you are doing. However, if you an inveterate Alt-Tabber, that shows the same mini-previews. And if you liked Vista's Flip 3D feature, that's still an option.
Incidentally, you can now move TaskBar icons around to change the order, like browser tabs. As I always try to keep XP TaskBar items in the same order, I find this useful. It's a small point, but Windows 7 has lots of small points, and they add up.
There are a few party tricks that Windows 7 users can show their friends, such as Aero Snaps, Aero Peek, and Aero Shake. Aero Snaps lets you put two applications side by side for easy comparison and copy-and-paste. Aero Peek makes open windows temporarily transparent so you can see what's on your desktop. Aero Shake means that if you shake a window, all the other windows will disappear. All are both useful and fun.
The My Documents section has been reorganised under one heading, Libraries. This includes Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos, with Windows 7 sorting things into these "shell folders". Each of these has two subfolders, such as My Music and Public Music. This makes it easier to keep stuff you want to share away from stuff you want to keep to yourself.
Sharing is an important part of Windows 7. It has a HomeGroup feature that makes it very easy to set up a home network and share things. It only works with Windows 7 machines, which I expect will sell a few Family Packs of Windows 7 (three copies of Home Premium for £149.99).
Right click a photo, for example, select Share, and this gives you four options: Nobody; HomeGroup (Read), HomeGroup (Read/Write), and Specific People. "Plays to" lets you display a video, for example, on a different PC.
Support for the consumer electronics industry's DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard should help Windows 7 PCs work with other devices, though I've yet to see an example.
There are also some "location awareness" features where Windows 7 figures out where you are — on a home network or an office network, for example — and selects the appropriate printer. There's a section of the control panel, Location and Other Sensors, where sensors can be installed and controlled. One example is "adaptive brightness": if your PC has a light sensor, Windows 7 will adjust the screen brightness to match.
Multi-touch is also supported, if you have the hardware to take advantage of it. There is an emerging flood of laptops with multi-touch pads and new all-in-ones with multi-touch screens, but it remains to be seen whether these will be successful.
When it comes to Windows applications, the very old ones have been dramatically improved. Paint and WordPad now have "ribbon interfaces" like Office 2007, and both the Calculator and command shell (PowerShell) are much more powerful than before. Technically, several standard applications have also been removed from the operating system, though I expect most PC manufacturers will install them.
What Microsoft has done is decouple the Windows Live Essentials suite of applications — Mail, Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, etc --from the operating system. It means the Live programs can be updated from the web every six or nine months, or whatever, instead of on a three-year operating system development cycle. It also reduces the attack area for anti-trust complaints.
But one thing that's missing from Windows 7 is the Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus program, formerly codenamed Morro. You get Windows Defender and an improved firewall, but Microsoft appears to be too scared of the European Commission to do what would be best for users and include anti-virus software as well. As it is, specialist anti-virus companies install trial versions on new PCs, and pay PC manufacturers very handsomely for the distribution. If Microsoft did the right thing and defended users for nothing, it would upset the financial applecart.
All round, then, Windows 7 is generally good, and some Windows fans reckon it's better than Apple's Mac OS X. It's certainly easier to use than Mac OS X if you are already familiar with the Windows way of doing things. Also, Windows 7 – released to companies on August 6 – has so far proved to be a lot less buggy than Apple's Snow Leopard, which has even lost users' data.
If you dig into Windows 7 then you will, of course, find numerous relics from the past, going right back through Windows 95 to DOS.
There are lots of inconsistencies that still need cleaning up.
However, Microsoft's business depends on running millions of programs that stretch back decades, supporting vast numbers of peripherals, and providing a platform for thousands of competing manufacturers who make everything from handhelds and tablet PCs to racks of data-centre mainframes. That's just the baggage Windows carries.
But with luck you will not see too many of these relics, and on the surface, Windows 7 is impressively smooth.
I'm a full-time Windows XP user who didn't upgrade to Vista on my two main PCs, but I can't see a good reason for sticking with XP now that it looks doomed. I've bought a cut-price Amazon Windows 7 Pro upgrade for my desktop, and I'm planning to buy a new Windows 7 laptop to replace my very old ThinkPad X31.
Windows 7 is a long way from being perfect, and it's not an essential upgrade if you're happy with XP. But nor is there a real reason to avoid it. Windows 7 is simply the best version of Windows you can get

blackberry bold 9700

blackberry bold 9700

GSM BlackBerry users who felt snubbed by RIM's recent releases, like the Storm 2 and Tour 9630 on Verizon, can finally get in on the new device action. RIM took the wraps off BlackBerry Bold 9700, an update to the popular BlackBerry Bold 9000, which debuted last year on AT&T. Sporting a slimmer design, better camera (3.2-megapixels as opposed to the 9000's 2-megapixel shooter), slightly better display, the Bold 9700 is an ideal upgrade for those looking to ditch their 8300 series Curves.
Measuring 4.3-by-2.4-by-0.6-inches thick, the 9700 is much more pocketable than the 9000. It is lighter, as well, weighing 4.2 ounces (down from 4.8 ounces). It still has the leatherette back, but it is minimized on this new version. This is a good thing; we found the original a bit gaudy due to its excess of leatherette.
Another welcomed design tweak is the addition of touch-sensitive trackpad instead of a trackball. In my short hands-on time with the 9700, I found the pad very responsive. Anyone who has owned a BlackBerry knows the issues with the trackball: It gets dirty, gets stuck, and sometimes falls out. The touch trackpad also gives the Bold the sensation of a touchscreen device, particularly when you're using it to swipe through pictures.
The Bold 9700 has a similar keyboard as the original with sculpted keys and thin metal dividers akin to a guitar frets. This design is meant to eliminate finger slippage and enhance the keyboard's usability. The original's keyboard felt roomy and ergonomic, somewhat in part to the handset's measurements. With a narrower keyboard, I am curious to see how the comfortable the 9700's will be.
The Bold 9700 has the same 624 MHz processor as the 9000, so I can assume the Bold 9700 will be as speedy as the 9000. Like its predecessor, the 9700 has Wi-Fi and built-in GPS. The T-Mobile version supports UMA-calls over Wi-Fi-but the AT&T version won't. RIM says the Bold will be available from T-Mobile and AT&T in the beginning of November. Pricing has not yet been announced, but when the Bold debuted last year, it had the hefty price tag of $300.

missing florida girl

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- The father of a 7-year-old girl who disappeared while walking home from her Clay County, Fla., school lives Alamance County.
Sam Thompson, who is recovering from a recent car crash, said he isn't in good enough shape to travel to Florida to assist in the search for his daughter, Somer.
"I can't describe it when your daughter is missing and you can't help her," Thompson said sitting on his front porch in Graham Tuesday evening. "It's hard to breathe. If anyone has taken my daughter, I will forgive you. But just let her come home safe and unharmed. There is no need for this."
Thompson's wife and three kids live near Jacksonville, where a massive community search for Somer is under way. Hundreds scoured ditches Tuesday, and choppers searched by air, but there was still no sign of the missing girl.
"At this time right now she is an endangered missing child due to her age and climate conditions for a small child like that. She is definitely in danger and we do suspect foul play," Clay County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Dan Mahla said.
The mother of Somer Thompson went on all three network national morning news shows Wednesday with a tearful appeal for the child's return. She said she assumed someone has her daughter.
Sheriff Rick Beseler appeared with mother Dina Thompson and said investigators are baffled. He told the CBS "Early Show" that officers have interviewed about 75 known sex offenders in a five-square-mile area.
Sam Thompson said authorities with the Sheriff's Department told him they would notify him when he should make the trip to Florida.
"Somebody knows where my daughter is. Somebody knows where my daughter is," Thompson pleaded. "I beg you. Please bring her home."

sexist video

sexist video

Where the wild things aren't is in a Kanye West movie.
A month after his mea culpa to Taylor Swift for hijacking her MTV Video Music Awards moment, the rap superstar is offering up yet another apology, this time to his fans for removing an epic Spike Jonze-directed video in which he stars as a womanizing, boozing party animal.
"Sorry I had to take it down," West writes on his blog without further explanation.
The 14-minute short, entitled "We Were Once a Fairytale," showed West playing a wasted version of himself, groping various females in a nightclub while his track "See You In My Nightmares" plays in the background.
After a brief sex scene, the MC makes a beeline for the bathroom, where he vomits and proceeds to stab himself in the stomach with a knife. The clip concludes as West pulls some sort of rat fiend from his gut, a Jonzian touch reminiscent of the helmer's latest big screen foray, Where the Wild Things Are.
The clip sparked controversy upon its debut yesterday, with critics calling it sexist. And he continues to make headlines for taking it down today.
Contoversy? Publicity? Kanye West? Go figure.

Fifth Third Bank has joined the Revolution Money network as an issuing bank.
The move is expected to expand adoption of RevolutionCard, a credit card offered by Revolution Money, an alternative payments company based in St. Petersburg. The company is a subsidiary of Revolution LLC, a Washington-based firm launched in 2005 by Steve Case, co-founder of America Online.
The combination of Fifth Third Bank’s card-issuing capabilities with Revolution Money’s marketing and customers servicing and communication capabilities will provide a “robust platform” for expansion, a release said.
It’s the largest opportunity to date to grow the Revolution Card business, Jason Hogg, founder and chief executive of Revolution Money, said in the release.
Joining the Revolution Money network gives Fifth Third a new card distribution channel to supplement its existing channels, Jon Groch, the bank’s director of bankcard services, said in the release.
Revolution Money has been issuing cards through First Bank and Trust in Brookings, S.D., part of Fishback Financial Corp.
Revolution Money also has “merchant acquiring” relationships with several companies. Merchant acquirers provide services that allow merchants to accept customers’ payment cards at the point of sale. One of Revolution Money’s merchant acquirers was Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB), which earlier this year sold majority control of its merchant acquiring and financial institutions business to Advent International, creating a company called Fifth Third Processing Solutions LLC.

Who is unaware of the computer gaint MICROSOFT, a big leader a big name in the computer field hassomething for firefox.
Hidden in the record-breaking batch of security bulletins released by Microsoft earlier this week was one that addressed a vulnerability not in Microsoft's own product, but that of the rival Firefox browser from Mozilla. To put it bluntly, the critical bug that opened Firefox users to a critical risk is the result of Microsoft quietly pushing out an update via Windows Update eight months back.
The affected component would be the "Windows Presentation Foundation plug-in in Firefox" which typically comes via the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. The problem is that this plug-in can be installed without the user's approval, according to Susan Bradley, a contributor to the Windows Secrets newsletter.
The danger is real, and Firefox users with the vulnerable plug-in only need to visit a rigged site to get compromised.
In addition, reports indicate that the original version of the plug-in was next to impossible to remove. This is because the "Uninstall" and "Disable" buttons for this particular plug-in are disabled by default, and removing them is complicated. The inability to easily uninstall it was later rectified in a May update.
While the latest update should resolve the issue, I would personally advocate removing the plug-in from computers you own or manage. Do a quick check of your Firefox; do you have this plug-in installed?
