happy halloween comments

happy halloween comments

Still one more day til Halloween (Silver Shamrock!), but as this will be the final Today in Film Bloggery post ever on SpoutBlog, it’s my only opportunity to do a roundup of what the blogs are posting this week related to the holiday of candy and costumes.
I’ll actually be dressing up as something non-film-related tomorrow (”Moss” from UK series The IT Crowd), but I do plan on watching some horror flicks (including Paranormal Activity), which I rarely do, on Halloween or any other day. Maybe if I’m feeling academic — and since my present job situation has me aiming to get my PhD in cinema studies — I’ll break out Mary Ann Sloan’s essay “Film and the Masquerade” and attempt to make it relative to the festivities (I know, it’s a real stretch).
What will you be doing? Comment with your film-related costumes and/or plans after checking out what the film blogs are posting Halloween-related after the jump:

brooke hundley myspace

ESPN staffer Brooke Hundley remained "hopeful," according to her MySpace page, even as her former lover, baseball analyst Steve Phillips was fired by the network Sunday. Phillips checked himself into "an inpatient treatment facility to address his personal issues," according to his representative, Steve Lefkowitz. The extramarital affair became fuel for tabloids after Phillips' wife, Marni Phillips, filed a police report in Wilton, Conn. In the report, Marni Phillips said that 22-year-old Hundley had sent her a letter graphically describing their relationship, even mentioning the former Mets' general manager's birthmarks. Marni Phillips called police Aug. 19 when she came home to find Hundley in her driveway. "I knew instinctively that this was the woman Steve was involved with and I was terrified," she wrote in a statement to police. Hundley also contacted Phillips' 16-year-old son through his Facebook account, according to the police report.
"This woman has clearly displayed erratic behavior and delusional tendencies," Steve Phillips said in a statement to police. Phillips signed a statement to police that he would not press charges. The status of the police investigation was unclear Sunday. The report indicated a detective planned to interview Hundley this week when she returned from vacation. Marni Phillips filed for divorce Sept. 14, according to court records.

More than 130 dead in year's deadliest Iraq attack

This is so far considered to be the most deadliest n most biggest suicidal attack in bagdad the capital of iraq which today was rocked ith the two powerful car blasts, According to the officials n toll may rise, they say that at least 132 people were killed and 520 wounded in twin suicide car bombings in central Baghdad Sunday, officials said -- the deadliest attack on civilians in Iraq this year.
Two car bombs detonated in quick succession near Iraqi government buildings about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, as the Iraqi work week began, an Interior Ministry official said.
Among the wounded were three American security contractors, the U.S. Embassy told CNN. The embassy would not give any more details.
One of the bombs exploded outside Baghdad's governorate building. The second was outside the Justice Ministry, about 500 meters (1,600 feet) away. The Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works, which is about 50 meters from the Justice Ministry, also sustained severe damage.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki surveyed the carnage shortly after the explosions.
"The cowardly attack that took place today should not affect the determination of the Iraqi people from continuing their battle against the deposed regime and the gangs of criminal Baath party and the terrorist al Qaeda organization, who have committed the most heinous crimes against the civilians,'" al-Maliki said in a statement.
Plumes of smoke billowed from the sites of the attacks as victims fled, some with blood streaming down their faces. The streets were strewn with debris, including charred cars and chunks of concrete from damaged buildings. Some government buildings and others in the area were heavily damaged.

The bombings came a day after the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, visited the country for the first time, and on the same day Iraqi officials were due to try to break a logjam holding up a new election law. Iraqis are supposed to go to the polls January 16, but parliament still has not passed the legislation, putting the balloting in limbo. The original deadline for parliament to pass the law was October 15, because Iraq's electoral commission says it needs 90 days to organize the process.
Iraq's parliament failed Wednesday to reach agreement on a new electoral law, so the issue was supposed go to the Political Council for National Security on Sunday. It is not clear if the bombings will derail the political council's discussions.
Al-Maliki vowed to punish "the enemies of the Iraqi people who want to spread chaos in the country and derail the political process and prevent the parliamentary elections from taking place as planned" in January.
He said holding the elections as scheduled would send the strongest response and message to the "enemies of the political process who are supported from the outside."
Susan Rice, the ambassador, completed a two-day visit to Iraq on Saturday that included a condolence stop at the Foreign Ministry, where a huge bombing killed more than 100 in August.
Security was tightened around Baghdad in the wake of the August 19 attack, which Iraqis dubbed "Bloody Wednesday." Blast walls were erected around the city and more checkpoints were set up.
Iraqi journalists grilled officials on TV on Sunday, demanding to know how the new attacks could have taken place given the new security measures.
An Iraqi official said the government was working to bolster security, but regional cooperation was needed to help fight suicide bombers.
"We are calling on international and U.N. envoys to come and find out why Iraq is being targeted this way," said Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesman.
The spokesman said Iraq's setbacks are mainly caused by a fledgling intelligence that has "not been completed."
The European Union condemned "this terrorist attack" and sent its condolences to the families of the victims, the Swedish presidency said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry, near the site of Sunday's blasts, was one of six places attacked on August 19. That day's attacks killed at least 100 people and wounded hundreds more. The area is close to the heavily guarded Green Zone that also houses the U.S. Embassy.
The August attacks shook confidence in the abilities of Iraqi security forces who took over securing urban areas from U.S. troops over the summer.
The Iraqi government has blamed Syria for harboring former Baath party members, who it said planned the August attacks, and asked for their handover.
Relations between the two neighbors were strained after the bombings. Each withdrew its ambassador from the other's country.
Security in the capital was tightened after the August bombings, and a decision to normalize the situation in Baghdad by taking down blast walls was reversed and checkpoints increased.
Iraqi and U.S. officials have warned of a possible increase in violence ahead of the country's national elections.

baby einstein refund

baby einstein refund

The Disney Company markets the Baby Einstein product line as an educational tool for very young children from ages 3 months to 3 years. The subjects covered are usually classical in nature. However more prominent research shows them to be ineffective in their goal prompting Baby Einstein refund.
Disney is offering a full refund of $15.99 to anyone who purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 5, 2004 and Sept. 4, 2009. Consumers can also exchange the DVDs for Baby Einstein books, music or a 25 percent off coupon.
Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood claims the offer was the result of a Federal Trade Commission's reaction to the CCFC charge in 2006 as to the efficacy of video education methods. Baby Eintein reps claim otherwise, and the choice was a decision pursuant to a new parent's guide.
The decision may also be related to increasing preasure in light of recent research showing that the Baby Eintein series is not only ineffective but even detremental.
An August 2007 the Journal of Pediatrics released a study by researchers at the University of Washington on the effects of television and DVD/video viewing on language development in children under two years of age.
The study's authors, Drs. Frederick Zimmerman, Dimitri Christakis, and Andrew Meltzoff, concluded that exposure to "baby DVDs/videos" — such as Baby Einstein and Brainy Baby is strongly associated with lower scores on a standard language development test.
It does prove the admonishments of groups like the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood that having a coporation raise your child via electronic media is no substitute for the parent or real education.
The CCFC on their website claims this recall and the refund of Baby Einstein videos and products as a victory

daylight savings time schedule 2009

daylight savings time schedule 2009

When is Daylight Savings Time? Your Daylight Savings Time Schedule for 2009 is about to end.
Daylight Savings Time will end November 1, 2009! So before you go to bed the night before, remember to set your clocks backwards. You will get an extra hour of sleep. Daylight Savings Time will next star the second Sunday in March 2010.
The concept of Daylight Savings Time came from George Vernon Hudson in 1895. But historians note that Romans used different clock scales in ancient times at different parts of the years.
Daylight Savings Time has always caused controversy. Churchill said once in support of Daylight Savings Time that it affords “the opportunities for the pursuit of health and happiness among the millions of people who live in this country”.

how to measure bra size

how to measure bra size

It is a shocking truth that more then 50% of women, today, are buying and wearing the wrong bra size. If you feel that your bra is slipping, sliding or digging into your flesh, you are probably wearing the wrong size. It is important to measure the correct size of your bra, because an ill-fitting one can lead to a number of ailments, such as neck strain, backache and rashes. While a tight bra puts undue strain on the shoulders and the bust, a loosely fitted brassier results in drooping breasts. On the other hand, a perfect fitting bra supports the breasts, without putting strain on the chest wall, neck, back and shoulders.

How To Measure Your Bra Size
* Wear a bra, in which you feel comfortable, after removing your top.
* Now, take measurements of the area around your rib cage, straight under your breasts, using a measuring tape. Make a note of this number.
* Add five to the number that you have just noted down. This will be your bra size.
* It is equally important to figure out the cup size for your bra, to ensure a perfect fit. Make use of the same measuring tape for the purpose.
* Measure the area around your chest, fully covering your bust. Now, subtract your bra size from the number that you have noted down in this above step. This will help you figure out your cup size.
* If the difference is somewhere between 0 and ½ inch, your cup size is AA. In case the difference is ½ to 1 inch, A will be the cup size of your bra.
* The cup size of your bra will be ‘B’, if the difference is between 1 and 2 ½ inches.
* The difference ranging from 2 ½ to 3 ½ inches indicates that your cup size is ‘C’. Your cup size is ‘D’, if the difference ranges from 3 ½ to 4 ½ inches.

windows 7 review

windows 7 review

Finally a long awaited windows has been launched by the big giant microsoft, there were rummers that this windows will prove a break through in the histrory of windows since its birth back in 1981. The first thing you'll notice about Windows 7 is that it looks like Vista. It also works like Vista, in the sense that it has the same plumbing underneath, except for a very welcome graphics upgrade to DX11. However, it works much better than Vista, and most of Vista's annoyances have either been removed, or (mostly) can be changed so the system works the way you like. It takes personalisation to extremes.
Microsoft has analysed the data from millions of user computing sessions to find out exactly what people do with their computers, then attacked the "pain points" to make Windows 7 quicker and smoother. (About 15m people used the Windows 7 beta.)
The most obvious difference is that Windows 7 doesn't keep annoying you with prompts — though it's also true that the latest version of Vista is much less annoying than the original. In fact, you can set the degree of annoyance on a sliding scale, though reducing it increases the risk of security breaches. However, Windows 7 is vastly more secure than XP and, in any case, the threat landscape has changed since XP was trashed by worms such as Blaster and Slammer. Today, the more important security changes are in the Internet Explorer 8 browser which, uniquely, defends against cross-site scripting.
Another obvious difference is that Windows 7 uses fewer resources.
Where Vista really needed 2GB of memory, Windows 7 will run quite happily in 1GB on a slow dual-core Intel processor, though I'd still recommend 2GB or, for preference, 4GB with the speedy 64-bit version of Windows 7.
The reduced footprint and some optimisation means Windows 7 sleeps and wakes up faster (though it's still not in the same class as Mac OS X).
And laptop batteries should last longer. I've been running Windows 7 on an Asus UL30 laptop with a claimed battery life of around 11 hours with Vista: it now does more than 12 hours.
Any PC that currently runs Vista will be better at running Windows 7 – a first for Microsoft – and it should also run on most PCs that will run XP SP2. (Search YouTube and you will find users showing off by loading it on unsuitable systems, including antiques with Pentium III chips.) The catch is that upgrading a PC running Windows XP requires a clean installation of Windows 7: you can't do an in-place upgrade. This has been a source of complaints, because it means reinstalling all your applications as well.
However, we've known for a dozen years that a clean installation of Windows usually works better, and geeks have generally recommended it.
Indeed, people used to reinstall Windows 95, 98 or Me just to clean up their systems, so it's silly to get hysterical about it now.
The Windows 7 interface has a few noticeable changes. First, the Vista sidebar has gone, but you can still use the clock and other gadgets, and you can position them wherever you like. Second, the QuickLaunch area and the TaskBar have been replaced by a sort of combo-pack.
Instead of putting applications in the QuickLaunch area, you can now right-click and pin them to the new-style Taskbar, alongside running applications.
As in Vista, hovering over a Taskbar icon shows one or more mini-previews, depending on how many windows you're using, except now they're interactive. Hovering over a mini-preview shows it full size on the desktop, while right-clicking provides a Jump List of options.
It makes it dramatically easier to see what you are doing. However, if you an inveterate Alt-Tabber, that shows the same mini-previews. And if you liked Vista's Flip 3D feature, that's still an option.
Incidentally, you can now move TaskBar icons around to change the order, like browser tabs. As I always try to keep XP TaskBar items in the same order, I find this useful. It's a small point, but Windows 7 has lots of small points, and they add up.
There are a few party tricks that Windows 7 users can show their friends, such as Aero Snaps, Aero Peek, and Aero Shake. Aero Snaps lets you put two applications side by side for easy comparison and copy-and-paste. Aero Peek makes open windows temporarily transparent so you can see what's on your desktop. Aero Shake means that if you shake a window, all the other windows will disappear. All are both useful and fun.
The My Documents section has been reorganised under one heading, Libraries. This includes Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos, with Windows 7 sorting things into these "shell folders". Each of these has two subfolders, such as My Music and Public Music. This makes it easier to keep stuff you want to share away from stuff you want to keep to yourself.
Sharing is an important part of Windows 7. It has a HomeGroup feature that makes it very easy to set up a home network and share things. It only works with Windows 7 machines, which I expect will sell a few Family Packs of Windows 7 (three copies of Home Premium for £149.99).
Right click a photo, for example, select Share, and this gives you four options: Nobody; HomeGroup (Read), HomeGroup (Read/Write), and Specific People. "Plays to" lets you display a video, for example, on a different PC.
Support for the consumer electronics industry's DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard should help Windows 7 PCs work with other devices, though I've yet to see an example.
There are also some "location awareness" features where Windows 7 figures out where you are — on a home network or an office network, for example — and selects the appropriate printer. There's a section of the control panel, Location and Other Sensors, where sensors can be installed and controlled. One example is "adaptive brightness": if your PC has a light sensor, Windows 7 will adjust the screen brightness to match.
Multi-touch is also supported, if you have the hardware to take advantage of it. There is an emerging flood of laptops with multi-touch pads and new all-in-ones with multi-touch screens, but it remains to be seen whether these will be successful.
When it comes to Windows applications, the very old ones have been dramatically improved. Paint and WordPad now have "ribbon interfaces" like Office 2007, and both the Calculator and command shell (PowerShell) are much more powerful than before. Technically, several standard applications have also been removed from the operating system, though I expect most PC manufacturers will install them.
What Microsoft has done is decouple the Windows Live Essentials suite of applications — Mail, Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, etc --from the operating system. It means the Live programs can be updated from the web every six or nine months, or whatever, instead of on a three-year operating system development cycle. It also reduces the attack area for anti-trust complaints.
But one thing that's missing from Windows 7 is the Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus program, formerly codenamed Morro. You get Windows Defender and an improved firewall, but Microsoft appears to be too scared of the European Commission to do what would be best for users and include anti-virus software as well. As it is, specialist anti-virus companies install trial versions on new PCs, and pay PC manufacturers very handsomely for the distribution. If Microsoft did the right thing and defended users for nothing, it would upset the financial applecart.
All round, then, Windows 7 is generally good, and some Windows fans reckon it's better than Apple's Mac OS X. It's certainly easier to use than Mac OS X if you are already familiar with the Windows way of doing things. Also, Windows 7 – released to companies on August 6 – has so far proved to be a lot less buggy than Apple's Snow Leopard, which has even lost users' data.
If you dig into Windows 7 then you will, of course, find numerous relics from the past, going right back through Windows 95 to DOS.
There are lots of inconsistencies that still need cleaning up.
However, Microsoft's business depends on running millions of programs that stretch back decades, supporting vast numbers of peripherals, and providing a platform for thousands of competing manufacturers who make everything from handhelds and tablet PCs to racks of data-centre mainframes. That's just the baggage Windows carries.
But with luck you will not see too many of these relics, and on the surface, Windows 7 is impressively smooth.
I'm a full-time Windows XP user who didn't upgrade to Vista on my two main PCs, but I can't see a good reason for sticking with XP now that it looks doomed. I've bought a cut-price Amazon Windows 7 Pro upgrade for my desktop, and I'm planning to buy a new Windows 7 laptop to replace my very old ThinkPad X31.
Windows 7 is a long way from being perfect, and it's not an essential upgrade if you're happy with XP. But nor is there a real reason to avoid it. Windows 7 is simply the best version of Windows you can get

blackberry bold 9700

blackberry bold 9700

GSM BlackBerry users who felt snubbed by RIM's recent releases, like the Storm 2 and Tour 9630 on Verizon, can finally get in on the new device action. RIM took the wraps off BlackBerry Bold 9700, an update to the popular BlackBerry Bold 9000, which debuted last year on AT&T. Sporting a slimmer design, better camera (3.2-megapixels as opposed to the 9000's 2-megapixel shooter), slightly better display, the Bold 9700 is an ideal upgrade for those looking to ditch their 8300 series Curves.
Measuring 4.3-by-2.4-by-0.6-inches thick, the 9700 is much more pocketable than the 9000. It is lighter, as well, weighing 4.2 ounces (down from 4.8 ounces). It still has the leatherette back, but it is minimized on this new version. This is a good thing; we found the original a bit gaudy due to its excess of leatherette.
Another welcomed design tweak is the addition of touch-sensitive trackpad instead of a trackball. In my short hands-on time with the 9700, I found the pad very responsive. Anyone who has owned a BlackBerry knows the issues with the trackball: It gets dirty, gets stuck, and sometimes falls out. The touch trackpad also gives the Bold the sensation of a touchscreen device, particularly when you're using it to swipe through pictures.
The Bold 9700 has a similar keyboard as the original with sculpted keys and thin metal dividers akin to a guitar frets. This design is meant to eliminate finger slippage and enhance the keyboard's usability. The original's keyboard felt roomy and ergonomic, somewhat in part to the handset's measurements. With a narrower keyboard, I am curious to see how the comfortable the 9700's will be.
The Bold 9700 has the same 624 MHz processor as the 9000, so I can assume the Bold 9700 will be as speedy as the 9000. Like its predecessor, the 9700 has Wi-Fi and built-in GPS. The T-Mobile version supports UMA-calls over Wi-Fi-but the AT&T version won't. RIM says the Bold will be available from T-Mobile and AT&T in the beginning of November. Pricing has not yet been announced, but when the Bold debuted last year, it had the hefty price tag of $300.

missing florida girl

missing florida girl

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- The father of a 7-year-old girl who disappeared while walking home from her Clay County, Fla., school lives Alamance County.
Sam Thompson, who is recovering from a recent car crash, said he isn't in good enough shape to travel to Florida to assist in the search for his daughter, Somer.
"I can't describe it when your daughter is missing and you can't help her," Thompson said sitting on his front porch in Graham Tuesday evening. "It's hard to breathe. If anyone has taken my daughter, I will forgive you. But just let her come home safe and unharmed. There is no need for this."
Thompson's wife and three kids live near Jacksonville, where a massive community search for Somer is under way. Hundreds scoured ditches Tuesday, and choppers searched by air, but there was still no sign of the missing girl.
"At this time right now she is an endangered missing child due to her age and climate conditions for a small child like that. She is definitely in danger and we do suspect foul play," Clay County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Dan Mahla said.
The mother of Somer Thompson went on all three network national morning news shows Wednesday with a tearful appeal for the child's return. She said she assumed someone has her daughter.
Sheriff Rick Beseler appeared with mother Dina Thompson and said investigators are baffled. He told the CBS "Early Show" that officers have interviewed about 75 known sex offenders in a five-square-mile area.
Sam Thompson said authorities with the Sheriff's Department told him they would notify him when he should make the trip to Florida.
"Somebody knows where my daughter is. Somebody knows where my daughter is," Thompson pleaded. "I beg you. Please bring her home."

sexist video

sexist video

Where the wild things aren't is in a Kanye West movie.
A month after his mea culpa to Taylor Swift for hijacking her MTV Video Music Awards moment, the rap superstar is offering up yet another apology, this time to his fans for removing an epic Spike Jonze-directed video in which he stars as a womanizing, boozing party animal.
"Sorry I had to take it down," West writes on his blog without further explanation.
The 14-minute short, entitled "We Were Once a Fairytale," showed West playing a wasted version of himself, groping various females in a nightclub while his track "See You In My Nightmares" plays in the background.
After a brief sex scene, the MC makes a beeline for the bathroom, where he vomits and proceeds to stab himself in the stomach with a knife. The clip concludes as West pulls some sort of rat fiend from his gut, a Jonzian touch reminiscent of the helmer's latest big screen foray, Where the Wild Things Are.
The clip sparked controversy upon its debut yesterday, with critics calling it sexist. And he continues to make headlines for taking it down today.
Contoversy? Publicity? Kanye West? Go figure.

revolution money

Fifth Third Bank has joined the Revolution Money network as an issuing bank.
The move is expected to expand adoption of RevolutionCard, a credit card offered by Revolution Money, an alternative payments company based in St. Petersburg. The company is a subsidiary of Revolution LLC, a Washington-based firm launched in 2005 by Steve Case, co-founder of America Online.
The combination of Fifth Third Bank’s card-issuing capabilities with Revolution Money’s marketing and customers servicing and communication capabilities will provide a “robust platform” for expansion, a release said.
It’s the largest opportunity to date to grow the Revolution Card business, Jason Hogg, founder and chief executive of Revolution Money, said in the release.
Joining the Revolution Money network gives Fifth Third a new card distribution channel to supplement its existing channels, Jon Groch, the bank’s director of bankcard services, said in the release.
Revolution Money has been issuing cards through First Bank and Trust in Brookings, S.D., part of Fishback Financial Corp.
Revolution Money also has “merchant acquiring” relationships with several companies. Merchant acquirers provide services that allow merchants to accept customers’ payment cards at the point of sale. One of Revolution Money’s merchant acquirers was Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB), which earlier this year sold majority control of its merchant acquiring and financial institutions business to Advent International, creating a company called Fifth Third Processing Solutions LLC.

Who is unaware of the computer gaint MICROSOFT, a big leader a big name in the computer field hassomething for firefox.
Hidden in the record-breaking batch of security bulletins released by Microsoft earlier this week was one that addressed a vulnerability not in Microsoft's own product, but that of the rival Firefox browser from Mozilla. To put it bluntly, the critical bug that opened Firefox users to a critical risk is the result of Microsoft quietly pushing out an update via Windows Update eight months back.
The affected component would be the "Windows Presentation Foundation plug-in in Firefox" which typically comes via the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. The problem is that this plug-in can be installed without the user's approval, according to Susan Bradley, a contributor to the Windows Secrets newsletter.
The danger is real, and Firefox users with the vulnerable plug-in only need to visit a rigged site to get compromised.
In addition, reports indicate that the original version of the plug-in was next to impossible to remove. This is because the "Uninstall" and "Disable" buttons for this particular plug-in are disabled by default, and removing them is complicated. The inability to easily uninstall it was later rectified in a May update.
While the latest update should resolve the issue, I would personally advocate removing the plug-in from computers you own or manage. Do a quick check of your Firefox; do you have this plug-in installed?

meghan mccain breasts

meghan mccain breasts

Meghan McCain, the one which have the lovely and most eye catching breasts was just lounging around her New York apartment Wednesday evening in sweat pants and a tank top … having a “spontaneous night in” with takeout (Chinese?) and a new Andy Warhol biography.
Sounds relaxing, huh?
But then – in a moment that showcases the perils of having large breasts in the Republican Party – the 25-year-old buxom blond bombshell (and daughter of former GOP presidential nominee John McCain) snapped a picture of herself and posted it to her Twitter page – inadvertently unleashing a minor media tsunami.
What’s wrong with the picture?
Nothing … well, unless you were born prior to 1950.
Within minutes of this admittedly PG picture being posted, however, a surprising wave of controversy ensued. One commenter on Twitter even called McCain a “slut,” which obviously didn’t go over very well. Before long, CNN was running a story that referenced McCain’s appearance on Twitter “in a tank top that left little to the … imagination.”
McCain has since removed her busty Twitpic, calling it a “huge mistake” and apologizing to “anyone that was offended.” In fact, she deleted her entire photo gallery (editor’s note: :( )
Alas, our founding editor checked (several times) … and it’s not there.
McCain even threatened to get “the f*ck off Twitter” altogether, but eventually decided to address the “nontroversy” via her column on The Daily Beast instead …
On Wednesday, I posted a hastily taken self-portrait on Twitter—which I thought was funny and silly—and within a few hours I had caused a minor media scandal. I spent most of the next day thinking about what exactly was so shocking about the picture, why there was such an immediate and nasty overreaction. After all, it’s not like I was caught making a sex tape. I certainly didn’t pose nude for Playboy. And I hadn’t even exposed a nipple.
So why all this Sturm und Drang?
Could it be it’s because I have breasts? Because for those of you who didn’t know, I have two. They’re larger than some women’s and not as big as others. I don’t usually show off my cleavage—as I did in the photos I posted—which I will admit is not the smartest thing I have ever done. But it’s just not worth the drama it caused.
McCain finishes the column by saying “I just wanted to get that off my chest.”
Nice.
Frankly, we don’t get why Republicans can’t publicly accept the fact that women have boobs. After all, it’s become particularly obvious this year that GOP politicians LOVE boobs in private – especially boobs that belong to women other than their wives.
The bottom line is that Meghan McCain’s “bustiness” is no more or less scandalous than her black nail polish (swoon) or the “NOH8” image that’s currently serving as her Twitter backdrop.
Seriously, for those of you looking for true “busty Twit pics,” check out Coco (and all the GOP hypocrites went CLICK!) …

9 year old hockey goal

9 year old hockey goal

Has anyone ever heard of a young player of hockey, sure, not, but as the title says just check it out...........
No, it is not a nine-year-old video of a hockey goal, as the title may suggest. It's a brand new video of an amazing feat by a nine-year-old boy...Perhaps a hockey prodigy?
Just days after the now-famous video of the Ray Lewis hit on Chad Ochocinco, a decidedly more entertaining play has hit the web, and it is burning up the search engine charts. The play, by a youth hockey player at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, has been done before in shootouts, but not by anyone as young as this kid.
According to WBZtv.com, the boy is Oliver Wahlstrom of Portland, Maine. He plays for the Portland Junior Pirates, a local select team. He basically makes the same play as this kid at a Stars-Senators game from years back, but it's no less impressive:
If Wahlstrom has this kind of skill at age nine, he'll likely make it to junior leagues provided he maintains dedication to hockey. Then, maybe he can invent a new move to put these guys to shame:

sex offenders

sex offenders

Sex sometimes seems to be a bit confusing for some people and for some people it just a pleasure, so just to cater all such people a new treatment program for sex offenders is being developed at the Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane.
The 200-person program aims to reduce the number of inmates who re-offend by giving them intensive counseling. The Spokesman-Review reports that the program isn't expected to increase the sex offender population at the prison; instead, it's directed at sex offenders who already are in the prison system but aren't getting treatment.
Prison officials say a study has shown that 17 percent of sex offenders released from Washington prisons re-offend, but the figure falls to 3 percent for those who receive treatment. and note that the treatment should be conducted in a good manner

google building maker

google building maker

Google is looking to create 3D renderings of buildings featured in Google Earth, but it needs your help. The company on Tuesday announced the launch of Google Building Maker, a feature that will let users create 3D models of buildings in select cities.
"We like to think of Building Maker as a cross between Google Maps and a gigantic bin of building blocks," Mark Limber, Google product manager, and Matt Simpson, Google user experience designer, wrote in a blog post. "Basically, you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes – both of which we provide."
Images created using Building Maker can be submitted to Google's 3D Warehouse. Google will then review submissions and accepted images will include a user credit. Think you can improve upon an existing 3D image? Submit your model and Google will review that too for a possible replacement.
To get started, visit Google Building Maker and select a location. Zoom into a city and pick a building by moving the red pin on top of it. Click "start building" and if you have the correct Google Earth plug-in installed, the program will let you align blocks with a building's edges, and save. Google provides six images to start.
A viewer will allow you to preview the building in Google Earth before it is submitted to the Google 3D Warehouse.
Building Maker is currently available in 21 U.S. cities, including Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin, and Dallas. Across the pond, the feature is available in 16 European cities, including Dublin, Athens, Barcelona, Venice, and Budapest, as well as nine Japanese cities, like Tokyo.
A more detailed list is available on Google Sketch Up.
Building Maker is supported in all browsers, though Mac users will have to download the Google Earth plug-in directly. Users will need a Google account to submit to the 3D Warehouse.

Here is a picture of the Virgin Maria Auxiliatrix, the word Auxilium meaning “help”. The Virgin Maria Auxiliatrix’s Sanctuary was last visited by the Papacy in 1996, a visit by then Pope John Paul II in May of that year. The Feast for this Sanctuary is on May 24 each year.
The Virgin Maria Auxiliatrix covered on tv today originates from the Napoleonic wars of Europe. The official site of the Sanctuaries of Notre Dame de Lourdes lists the Virgin Maria Auxiliatrix’s information as follows:

The Sanctuary originates from a vow made by a soldier at the time of the Napoleonic wars in Europe. He promised that he returned safe and sound he would produce a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is why the Sanctuary is why the Sanctuary is dedicated to Maria Auxiliatrix (Auxilium = help). 2007 will be the centenary of the crowning of the statue. The Sanctuary is linked with Croatia and especially with the Sanctuary of Marija Bistrica. Pope John-Paul II visited the Sanctuary as a pilgrim on 17th May 1996. The Feast of the Sanctuary is on 24th May.”
The Sanctuary can be found in Brezje at the Bazilika Marije Pomagaj. Their website is www.marija.si

The Baths of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes are marble bathing pools where pilgrims are immersed as they respond to the request of Our Lady to Bernadette: “Go drink of the spring and wash yourself there”. Going through the Baths at Lourdes is a human and spiritual experience carried out by pilgrims who wish to renew their Baptismal Commitment. The water for the Baths is provided by the spring of the Grotto.
There is free access to the Baths; there is no need to make a reservation. Pilgrims do not need to bring anything with them. All that is required is provided on the spot to preserve a person’s modesty and dignity. Pilgrims are advised to arrive about an hour before the opening times.
The site also maintains a webcam:
The first is found on the right hand side of the Gave opposite the Grotto of the Apparitions. It records the surrounds of the Grotto every 15 minutes throughout the day. It also provides other events such as Masses (everyday at 6.07am, 8.07am and 11.07pm), the Rosary on the radio each day at 3.38pm, the Blessed Sacrament Procession at 5.08pm, the Torchlight Marian Procession at 9.30pm and the Grotto at night about 12.15am. The second webcam is found beside the Crowned Statue on the Rosary Square. It offers 4 programmes: the Rosary Basilica from a distance and from close up, the Crowned Statue and the Rosary Square

Columbus Day Weekend? Not So Fast!

Columbus Day Weekend? Not So Fast!

While Federal government offices in Washington, D.C. are closed for Columbus Day, students in Maryland, just a few miles away, have a full school day. What was once a guaranteed day off from work is now a gamble, with many schools and workplaces open on Columbus Day.

C. are closed for the holiday, miles away in suburban Maryland class is in session for public schools students. Columbus Day is not commemorated universally. Federal and state offices are closed, the United States Postal Service will not deliver mail, and many banks are shuttered.
But public schools in large cities like Los Angeles, Miami and Dallas are open, while in Washington, DC, New York City and Chicago they are closed
It has been a growing trend for more than 20 years. In 14-hundred and 92, Columbus sailed the ocean blue -- but that no longer means you have the day off.
In New York City, an estimated 30,000 parade goers lined Fifth Avenue, which was decked out in red, white and green for the city's Columbus Day parade.
Meanwhile, the city's subways and buses ran on a regular weekday schedule, since only a fraction of their riders had the day off from work.
History tells us Christopher Columbus first came ashore in the New World 1492, starting centuries of European exploration and settlement, and eventually leading to the creation of the United States.
Colorado was the first state officially to observe Columbus Day in 1905; in 1934 it became a federal holiday.
Since then Columbus Day has expanded beyond honoring Columbus the explorer. For many communities the day also serves as a time to celebrate the legacy and cultural heritage of Italians in America.
But Columbus and his legacy are not without controversy

Yesterday, La Pomme (formerly Ultra) officially opened its newly renovated party-house to the public. The opening was celebrated with a City Harvest charity gala hosted by the beautiful Royal Pains star, Reshma Shetty.
We sipped Sagatiba and Pama Liquor cocktails all night—literally all night. I was doing more than celebrating the opening the chicest spot in New York, I was retiring my stilettos and dedicating the night to the end of fashion week—which was fun, but I will admit, I need more than a pedicure to revamp my footsies and facial massage to relax my cheek bones from smiling at the runway.
Back to La Pomme, Reshma, and yes, the surprise cabaret girls. The crowd was naturally full of New York’s most beautiful and fashionable; Reshma hung out in the VIP lounge celebrating with the yummy Sagatiba and Pama cocktails along with her friends and other notables including Paul Iacono of Fame, Armani model Kerry Degman, RJets’ CEO RJ LaSasso, fashion designer Allison Parris, the Liquid Lightening marketing team, representatives from the William Morris Talent Agency, finance guru David Borish, celebrity Chiropractor Daniel Klinger and the always stylish Bonobos team.
The music was incredible, DJ Claudius Raphael played some of the best mixes. There were hot people, super-delicious cocktails, celebs, and amazing music—but this did not satisfy Tommy Tardie, owner of La Pomme, oh no—he needed to add a lovely cherry on top by surprising everyone with cabaret girls from Sotu Productions. Everyone was in amazement with the performance as the girls were dressed in large feathered hair pieces and covered in glitter.
Yes it was this good. So good that in fact, outside people were flirting with the doormen and dropping fifties to try and get in, however in Manhattan at La Pomme it’s all about the look

tera moody

tera moody

On message boards populated by serious running afficianados, the great debate being waged last week was whether or not Tera Moody had come out of nowhere to take fifth place in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.
In the Tri-Cities, it’s a safe bet that it was a non-issue.
Many in the area have known about Moody since she was a St. Charles High School freshman in 1995-96, when she finished sixth in the state cross country meet and began a string of four straight all-state finishes. She was a key contributor to one of St. Charles’ record six state championships in 1999, again in cross country.
Moody won back-to-back 1,600-meter championships in track in 1998 and 1999. After the second, the Saints senior memorably dove into a retention pond adjacent to the O’Brien Stadium track at Eastern Illinois — simply because it was something she’d had on her mind for a while.
“When Tera sets her mind to something and passes it on to her legs, she’s normally really successful,” said Tom Roderick, her St. Charles High cross country coach.
If area running fans didn’t see a future elite marathoner in Moody then, it was only because she threw them off the scent by acting like a miler. Nonetheless, 26-mile races couldn’t be completely ruled out.
“I’m really happy for her,” Roderick said. “Not only was she extremely competitive in high school, she was a pretty good college runner, and she’s stuck with it. I’m really proud of the way she’s progressed.”Taking the long view
Moody made the transition to longer distances at the University of Colorado, where she won the Big 12 Conference 10,000 meters as a freshman. Moody contributed to the Buffaloes’ 2000 NCAA cross country championship.
Still, she was somewhat sour on collegiate running by the time she graduated in 2004 with a degree in journalism and mass communication. The 27-year-old still lives and trains at altitude in Boulder, Colo.
“The college experience didn’t go the way I wanted,” said Moody, who was born in Batavia but lived in St. Charles from age 5 until college. “I was really frustrated and really disappointed. After college, I took a little break. I was burnt out on the after-colllege scene. I was relaxing and having fun. I ran kind of a regional race for fun and I broke three hours.”
The Olympic Trials marathon on April 20 in Boston, was only her fifth. The first three were the Chicago Marathon. She ran 2:46.40 to finish ninth in this year’s race, which qualified her for the trials.
Moody had finished 20th (2:50.08) in Chicago in 2006 in her first marathon. While that was extremely encouraging, the 2007 race was a setback — almost two seconds slower.
She recently has begun training with former Fenton standout Art Siemers, who coaches four women that competed in the trials in addition to being the head coach at the Colorado School of Mines.
Siemers introduced Moody to a training regimen that included physical therapy, massages and doing yoga. It also meant a heavier mileage load. Before the Trials, she ran a 1:13.05 half-marathon in Houston that showed she was on target.
“I bumped up my mileage to 100, and one week I even put in 120,” Moody said. “I ran 1:13 at a half-marathon in January. That was a really good indicator. I’d never felt as good in a race (as I did at the trials), until a mile to go.”Joining the national elite
The Olympic Trials race was slow and tactical. Moody stayed with the lead pack as it was winnowed from 80 to seven. The top three finishers qualified for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
By the 23rd or 24th mile, Moody was in fourth place but she knew that eventual third-place finisher Blake Russell (2:32.40) had created too much separation. Moody couldn’t catch her.
So the race came down to whether she or Zoila Gomez would claim the alternate spot for the Olympics. Gomez finished in 2:33.53. Moody ran a 2:33.54.
“Now there was too big of a gap,” Moody said. “I knew Zoila Gomez was coming up. The last 400 I was giving it everything I had. The last 200 felt like slow motion. I didn’t have that second. That was it.
“I couldn’t be too disappointed. I had a PR by about 13 minutes and I was fifth at the Olympic Trials. I was ranked 152nd.”
Moody sells real estate and manages a couple of rental properties in Boulder to enable her to continue running. The $15,000 payday for her top-five finish at the Olympic trials will come in handy.
Now she’s anxious to continue training with Siemers and see where that path will lead.
“I wanted to try coaching myself first, and I’m really proud of how well that went,” Moody said. “But I knew all the girls who were training with Art spoke highly of him. I decided to give it a go. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I definitely think he’s flexible. It’s worked really well so far.”
She plans to continue running the Chicago Marathon as much for the chance to reconnect with friends and family as for the competition level. She’s learned that she runs best on emotion.
“Defintely my goal is to make the Olympic team in 2012 in the marathon,” Moody said. “I’ll focus on some shorter stuff for a awhile until I’m ready to run another marathon. I’d race every week if I could.”

amazon kindle

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Amazon.com Inc. cut the price of its Kindle electronic-book reader for the second time this year, as competition continues to grow in the fledgling e-book space.
Late Tuesday night, Amazon /quotes/comstock/15*!amzn/quotes/nls/amzn (AMZN 93.86, +2.95, +3.25%) announced that it cut the price of the Kindle by $40 to $259. The move comes just three months after the company slashed the price tag of the device by $60 -- equating a total price reduction of 28% during that period. See full story.
AmazonThe Amazon Kindle.
"In our view, the price cut is Amazon's response not only to economies of scale but also to growing competition," Sandeep Aggarwal of Collins Stewart wrote in a note to clients Wednesday morning.
The company also announced that it would sell an international version of the device -- one that can purchase and download books in more than 100 countries. Previous versions of the Kindle could only be bought and used on wireless networks inside the U.S.
AT&T Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!t/quotes/nls/t (T 26.37, -0.78, -2.87%) will provide wireless connectivity for the international device. Sprint /quotes/comstock/13*!s/quotes/nls/s (S 3.77, -0.02, -0.53%) provides the service for the domestic version.
In a statement, the company said the international version of the Kindle will sell for $279 and will be available for shipping on Oct. 19.
The price cut and new international version are likely part of Amazon's efforts to get in front of the growing competition in the e-reader market. Sony Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!sne/quotes/nls/sne (SNE 28.06, +0.43, +1.56%) has updated its line of e-reader devices, with at least one model priced at $199 -- lower than the Kindle.
Also over the next few months, new devices from Netherlands-based iRex and U.S. startup Plastic Logic are set to hit the market.
"While the price cut comes slightly earlier than expected, we see this as typical Amazon (cutting prices prior to the market having a viable competitor) and sets up the Kindle for a full runway for Q4," Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney wrote in a note Wednesday.
Mahaney added that the price cut "increases the chance that the Kindle becomes one of the hit products this holiday season."
Shares of Amazon were up 2.4% at $93.08 by mid-morning Wednesday.
The company does not disclose sales figures for the Kindle, but analysts believe the company has sold more than 1 million units since its original debut in the fall of 2007. Mahaney upped his estimate for the current year to 1.5 million units from 1 million prior to the latest price cut.
A report out from Forrester Research on Wednesday predicted that overall sales of e-readers would hit 3 million units this year -- with about one-third of those coming in the holiday season. Amazon is expected to account for about 60% of those, followed by Sony at 35% and the rest split among the smaller players.
The Kindle allows readers to buy and download books through a wireless connection and read them on the screen. More than 350,000 books -- plus magazine and newspaper subscriptions -- are available at Amazon's Kindle store.
One drawback for rivals has been their inability to match the number of new titles that are purchasable through Amazon. Yet they say they are working with publishers and other booksellers, including book-seller Barnes & Noble, to match Amazon's offering

We'll continue to see our twinkle-toed Cowboy on Dancing with the Stars for at least one more week, as Michael Irvin was voted into the bottom four and then into the bottom two -- but was not the celebrity chosen to leave the show.

ABC
Unfortunately, pictures of the hilarious politico-inspired costume that Tom DeLay wore this week weren't yet available.
However, former House majority leader Tom DeLay will not be returning. DeLay was not the celebrity in the bottom two beside Irvin, but he was advised by doctors not to continue dancing because of stress fractures in each foot. DeLay put up a good fight on Monday night as he winced through another dance, despite suggestions that he sit this week out. After that dance, DeLay announced on Tuesday that he would be leaving the competition. Hanging up his dancing shoes. No more dancing with the devil.
Sad, though -- if he were to stay through next week, he would have danced the Texas two-step. How fitting. Tom Bergeron invited DeLay to perform that two-step with his partner, Cheryl Burke, in the season finale if his injuries are healed in time.
The show's producers could have accepted DeLay's bow-out as the elimination of the week, but they instead continued tallying judges scores and call-in votes.
Irvin's performance on Monday night was an unremarkable samba, preceded by an unsure Irvin telling his partner, Anna Demidova, that he was having trouble remembering the steps. Again Irvin showed the need to master the choreography -- yet really hasn't been able to rise above the pack so far.

We believe Michael Irvin's face looked something like this when he was told he wouldn't be voted off this week.
Judges were let down by his samba, which didn't show improvement like last week's dance and tallied him the lowest score of the night with 14. It also didn't help that Bruno Tonioli called him “darling” when critiquing his dancing skills and then told him he danced like a tank. Carrie Ann told him he danced “too small” – a strange but accurate evaluation for one of the show's biggest guys.
“You don't think big football players get hurt, but it did hurt!” Irvin told host Samantha Harris after hearing what the judges had said. Then he followed it up with the comment that every celebrity ever says on Dancing with the Stars: “But we had fun.”
Irvin and Demidova were immediately placed in the bottom four on Tuesday, next to actress Debi Mazar, model Joanna Krupa, and singer Aaron Carter. Next came a dull performance by Queen Latifah, an amazing “Singing in the Rain” tribute by male dance crew JabbawockeeZ, and a bouncy Michael Jackson remix by Queen Latifah. She's a diva in everything she does, but this time, the second time was the charm.

Bye, Debi Mazar. Guess your partner will have to find some other celebrity to incessantly tell to shut up. Meanie.
Irvin and Mazar were then denounced into the dreaded bottom two. Irvin has the fan base to keep him going if he can just master the simple steps and stop lip-synching. He'll be given the chance to show it, since Mazar was asked to take her last dance.
The most likely celebrities to win, at this point, are singer Mya or Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin. Most likely to make out with their partner (if they haven't already) are snowboarder Louie Vito and his cute blonde partner Chelsey Hightower; or model Krupa and her partner Derek Hough (who ain't so bad looking himself).
