Alabama's two unemployment call centers will remain open Monday, a state holiday

Most state workers will be off Monday for Confederate Memorial Day, but the unemployment centers will be open to take calls.

Tom Surtees, director of the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations, said the high volume of calls led to the decision to keep the centers open.

"With increased unemployment in the state, we've made the decision to keep many of our employees on the clock during the holiday," he said.

The call centers are open 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To file a claim, call 1-866-234-5382.
